My car was converted from auto to manual. Somehow after that conversion I am missing part of the reverse light wiring. I have the grey male connector hanging under the dash but not the female part and its associated wiring. Would anyone have that by any chance?

Thank you

@Bmachine If I recall, that is the same mating connector as used on the later E21's. For the front turn indicator.
Can you confirm two items on your E9:
-is yours a 5 pin connector housing
-are your pins in this housing male or female?

Bo - If you can’t find the connector, you could make a replacement connector. I just bought a handful of TE Connectivity (Tyco) connectors from Mouser:

The ones I bought are twelve pin, but they have five pin connectors in this series:

The plug housings (males) are $0.80 each:

The recepticals (female) cost $.91 each:

and yes, Mouser will ship one of each if that is what you want.

That said, you have to buy 100 male and 100 female pin connectors for these, and here again the females are more expensive than the males.

Females are $8.00 per hundred:

Males are $7.40 per 100:

The pins are designed to be crimped both to the bare wire and to the insulation, and then inserted into the housings. And you need to strip the wire just enough for the connection so that the second outward crimp is on the insulation and no bare wiring is exposed outside the back of the connector. But these are pretty simple to use.

My order (I bought six male and six female connectors) with shipping was under $30.

Bo, Plug for reverse light is only three wires: green/white, blue/white and green/red for all years of 3.0CS per the factory blue book diagrams.

Strange as 74 Owner’s Manual shows black from fuse 6 to violet/black to switch, blue/white from switch to blue/white to reverse lights and green/red to green/red for dash indicator lights.

After off-line discussion with Chris it is becoming clear that there is really no need to have five wires going through that connector Just to get the reverse lights to work. So per his suggestion, I will cut off the connector and just use spade connections between the blue and the green wires.

So of course that means thank you to anyone who has looked into it but I am not going to use the same connector anymore.
