Hi guys,

Looking for one of these without the pre-heat hole; the rear one. Thanks.

luis, i have exactly the front one, so the one with a hole, but there will be no problem if you install it
of course you will decide !
if you consider it interesting for your car it is yours for free !

Covering Plate

I ordered one new from Penske online. http://www.penskeparts.com/ Came from BMW of Warwick, Warwick, RI.
www.inskip.com #11-62-1-257-097 $22.42 Comes in any color you wish as long as you want black. Installed....

Now the trick will be to see if I can make brackets to make these work with the headers. I hate the integral gasket/heat shield for B35 spec. There also seems to be some other cool shields, cast alloy, I believe for the E3? sfdon would know, yet he seems to be on Maui....adult fun by the pic he sent me off his phone!

I see. Aren't those shields for the E3....ummm....heat reactor style manifolds? I have wondered about these, not sure at all and interested to hear the answer.

MY E3 Si came with the sheet metal, black-painted shields, very similar to those on your photo pamp, but a different PN to fit the thermal reactors. Although what you receive today of you order PN 11-62-1-257-097, as you did is those black sheet metal shields, I believe in the past you would have received the cast aluminum ones such as shown in my photo.

Another puzzling thing is that while the Euro Si calls for the front shield to be the one with hole, at least judging from the catalog diagram, the injected engine has no provision for a pre-heated air stream. Someone with a Euro Si perhaps can clarify.

Also, the part has two part numbers, one for auto and one for manual transmissions. Anyone know the difference in the part?

Finally, Paul in PA has one for me; thanks Paul.
