need the .5mm one for the rear leg of the pump. If I had a .5mm one for the front that would work too as I could cut it.

TIA

Peter, false alarm ... i have a timing chain + timing cover gaskets ... but i used my shims when i replaced the oil pump in the bavaria. BTW, did you check with Korman? and other major engine builders.

Peter,
Here is a .1mm available from BMW.11411250521 They also have the long front one you could cut up. 11411250562
.3mm is NLA.
Or you could make your own with some brass or copper shim stock from McMaster Carr.

I looked and hard to find anything that exact thickness. Found .188 You need .197 .5mm = .197
You may have to combine some to get exact but .188 would certainly be close enough to use.

Depending on your application, you may want to consider the M30B35 oil pump drive gear and chain. The smaller gear will spin the pump faster and build pressure more rapidly, and in theory higher , however the relief spring may limit the second benefit. The B35 uses a spring-loaded tensioner, and while my Euro B34 block had a threaded boss to install one, I went with the shims. I don't remember the thicknesses i used but I seem to recall it needed a few so I ended up getting extras and shimming until I could barely get the drive gear onto the splined shaft. You may want to lok-tite the nut as well. You do not want it loosening, not matter which gear you use.

You'll also want to use the same number/thickness of shims at the rear and the front of the pump. You don't want tbe pump to have any tilt to it or else you lessen the life of the chain and wear out the gear.
