WTB Petri Steering wheel hub/boss for e9

Finding a nice hub/boss will be very hard. BMW Petri's and hubs are rarely if ever separated. To the best of my knowledge, BMW never offered the hubs as spares, they were paired together with the Petri steering wheels from the factory. The CS orange parts book does not list a part number for the hub, just the SW/hub as one unit.

The Petri's without BMW hubs that are offered on German Ebay are probably units that were previously fitted on VW Siroccos.

Good luck in finding one though!

could be very hard find.

I bought a petri in 38, which was coming from that mentioned Scirocco.
I didn't mind about the non fitting hub, because the steering wheel was much more cheaper compared to the one with an E9 fitting hub.

After the purchase I found it pretty hard to find such a fitting hub and decided then to make it my own just by drilling a fitting hole pattern to a Momo - Hub, that was mounted to the car already. Works out pretty easily. Now, I could switch between the wheels if I would like or need to visit our German TÜV :-P

I would guess, that this might work with a couple of other brands. But of course this is a very serious part to modify and you should be aware of what you're doing in compliance with safety and so pls take it just as hint and not as a recommendation

Hub/boss

There are some on eBay that are for multiple fits for Momo, Petri, Nardi and others but it is the steel cage type with the accordion rubber sleeve. I can go with that barring an alternate. Thanks for the advice.

this is not an endorsement... but, there is a guy on ebay, ego bgo (or something similar), that sells petri wheels and parts. try looking him up, if you can't find his account send me a pm and i'll get you his email address. good luck.

btw, those adaptors on ebay that you mention often won't fit - make sure that the 6-bolt pattern is bilaterally symmetric, not radially! (in other words, look at the top two bolts -they're closer together than the others).

Handle him with care, he's volatile. But he may have what you're looking for but not cheap.

echo what Steve said ... i call the guy ego biggo. thumbs his nose at e9 guys. i asked the guy a question and got a 5 course serving of attitude. my advice is stay away or only as a last result

my understanding is that the hubs were never sold by BMW separately. i do know that Coupeguy made some repro covers for the hub. the plastic can crack / chip and is impossible to find to replace.
