Turn Signal Switch- possible fix
I experienced the same problem ; only the left side wasn't working.
Checked the wiring by jumping the positive to the rear lamps- everything worked.
Checked the flasher; induced a load; worked.
Checked the emergency flasher; worked.
Took the lower cover off to expose the switch; pressed the backing and the metal together- it worked. Apparrently the back becomes loose; much like a starter switch ( common problem) and has to be just a bit tighter. I would have taken the switch completely out to the work bench but some previous owner decided to use red loctite on the steering nut and so far a 1/2" ratchet hasn't broken it loose; which is another story.
I two part epoxied mine and clamped in place in the car with some small non metalic clips. It didn't take much pressure at all to make it work and it's been working for two months now.
Thought it might benefit some of the readers to know of a possible fix for some or a way to see if it is in fact the switch or something else.
The are other cars that used the same circa switch. 2002 Tii comes to mind from my research. There are a few on evilbay at the moment at buy it now pricing vs $183 from the regular sources I tried.
By the way, my switch was only 3 years old.
I did have a question - Alvin- did the offset for the wheels present any problem on the front? I believe the offset for those are 20s? Spacers or no? I have a similar set, but have been reluctant to use yet.
Really cool car; like the look/ combo, and I'm sure the new / old owner is very happy. Congrats on all the hard work.
