I am looking for the rubber strip that goes along the top of the door molding towards the front of the car. It must be about an 8 inch piece which goes alongside the trapezoidal mirrors. I need these for both doors. In addition, are the little metal clips that hold the rubber into the molding still available?

Ahh yes. I know the thread well. Did you find a "lipped" piece of rubber and then fold it in the vice grips to double it's thickness or is the vice used to clamp the trim to the rubber?

this is a lipped piece of rubber that i glued to the metal part using the vice and some wood pieces to hold in place
there is no need to double and bent it
the lipped form is exact to assure a good water tightness and beisdes it allows the triang vent window to work properly
the result is brilliant, there is no need of additional glueing force because when you introduce the triang frame it holds everything in position
