Hi,

I am going to install a Ground Control coil over front suspension in my coupe but need to send them strut housings for assembly. The suspension shop which will do the install can not house my coupe inside for the 2 weeks to a month it may take to get the coil over set back from GC. So, there is a not a place I can leave my car on jacks. Does someone have used strut housings for sale?

thanks,

Walter

Hey Walter, I think the e24strut housings will work in a pinch- I can send them to you and you can send them back when you're done. They are early e24 (2/81) so they will probably bolt up to some degree- at least enough to move the car around? Might want to check and let me know-

e24 struts don't cross reference in RealOEM and he wants to send them out, not remove and replace the ones on his coupe I think. That is one job I don't enjoy!

Peter, Chris,

Thanks for the response. I will check with GC and see if e24 strut housings can work for fabricating the front coil over for the e9.

Walter, here is some information that may help

I had some email conversations with a very reliable source about using E12 strut housing on my E3.
To sum it up, E12 strut will probably work if used with coilovers that have adjustable camber plates. I was told that the angle of the spindles are a bit different to and you would end up with way too much negative camber. E12 cars have a slightly narrower front end (that is why we can't use the less expensive E12 centerlink) which changes the angle of the spindle.

Let me know how things go, because I'm considering going the coilover route too.

I think there is a camber difference in the early and late e3/9 struts also...

I have used e12 and e24 struts on track cars...another consideration is the euro e12 M535 and 636 use the larger bearings...

Walter, I have whatever strut's you want, either bare tubes to send out or full struts so you can "roll around" email me at

Gents,

Thanks for the replies. Bill, I have sent you a PM. Al, VIR is a hike from Camp Lejeune. I made the trip before; pretty ride.
