Longshot: I am looking for the bottom piece of the driver door rubber seal, the part that fits under the stainless cover plate on the rocker. I know it's all one piece but I am not concerned with the condition of the vertical A-piller section. Anyone? Thanks.

Steve:
Are you asking for the Door Seal item 8?
I believe I saved the seals I removed and you are welcome to them.

Unfortunately Dan’s piece isn’t going to work after all so I’m still on the hunt!

-Steve,

If the piece you're looking for is the one pictured here, you may have about as much luck as I did last time I was looking for the same discrete part of the entire door rubber seal that is essentially only available as one big, continuous item.

No one had a decent used one available when I last put out a "WTB," - probably because that is the piece that takes the most abuse and gets ripped and torn to such a degree that folks finally buy the whole seal. - and their left overs may be generally okay, except for the bottom part that you need.

You may have better, non-original luck with some of the Steele Rubber alternatives that other members here have identified. They work pretty well. I used the round profile, but would try the non-round profile if was to do it again.

Or maybe someone here just might have some good ones to throw your way. You never know. - Good luck in your search.

Here’s the profile followed by what I am going to try from Steele. Might need some trimming to fit under the stainless. I’ll post results.

Steve - I just did a repair on mine to get me through LOTA, but its not great and its not going to last. Peter Coomaraswamy found a Steel Rubber product:

Mine and my friend's Ceylon have a different profile piece (the one in the pic above) than Peter's. I ordered the other one and see they've already shipped, they could rival BelMetric and McMaster for turnaround. We can compare our hack solutions next month!

Once again, I find myself planning to watch you figure something out so I can just follow in your footsteps.

Am I right, there is a thread on this forum which summarizes all the seal-related stuff?

Maybe - in case this is not there - worth to add the info from above?

Probably this is a question to @Markos or @HB Chris or?

Not so fast, I just realized that the rocker section is supposed to have the plastic ribbing attached to the rubber, I thought it was only held in place by the stainless piece. It's now clear that the ribbing and rubber seal have parted ways over the years, so I am going to splice the new piece in and leave my original ribbing as is. I hope @HB Chris doesn't look too closely!
