Have any of you put the French style driving lights on where the high beams usually go on your coupe or E3? I am thinking of going that route with my Golf Bavaria. I don't necessarily want them to be fog lamps and I don't want HID or Cat eye. It wouldn't look right and I don't want it to drain any more volts.

I have a cool set of vintage, period correct, fog lamps that will be going on bumper, so just regular driving lights I think is the way to go. I just want regular beam yellow (amber) lights. Does anyone have a line on those, company to buy them from, part number or have any personally that they want to sell that you maybe used but didn't like the look, whatever? Thanks in advance for any help in the matter.

Yeah thanks, I was just lazy but I did learn a cool trick that I didn't think of doing regarding the issue. My really good buddy up north that owns a E3 told me he just puts an amber film around them when he wants that look, and takes it off when he wants to go back to regular. It's a great idea, plus if you ever get pulled over for it, which is a slight chance I think, you could just pull it right off in from of the local fuzz.

Is that the yellow film by Hella ? I was almost going to buy a set of yellow headlight film for the high beams but some reviews said it didn't look quite right . In your opinion, does it look pretty good ?
BTW, by California law, if a vehicle has its fog lights turned on, you must have your low beams on concurrently.

Amber Headlights spotted

Here is a recent picture of an e9 I saw with a nice set of amber headlights.

It is hard to tell if these are filmed or if it is done with shields. It sure gives the front end some pop.

I've had yellow high beams on my Baikal '73 CS for some years now. I got them from an old Benz because they had (55 watt?) halogen beams vs my OE sealed beam lights. No pic immediately at hand.

I don't think they look any better or worse, just different. In the years I've had them, no LEO has questioned me about them.

With everything else on the pictured coupe being so white, surprised the owner went with yellow lights. Have to say, mine are not quite so amber.
