The parts guy at the nearest BMW Classic Certified dealer learned from you that there actually are people who will insist on buying parts that do not match their VINs, and oh by the way, if you are going to make a big deal about the importance of VINs, you need to stop saying that all VINs are 17 digits long because before the 1980s, that's not true.
You rebuild the motor with lots of cool stuff that makes wonderful sounds and then 10 days later you drive your coupe from Atlanta to Colorado and back because you like to drive it and the motor needs breaking in.
