I have 2 NOS master cylinders. The silver colored one is ATE for 1500-2002TII through 7/76 maybe an E3. The black one is also ATE and appears to be for an E9, based on REALOEM picture. $100 for the 002 master and $150 for the E9.

Interesting history here. A friend just bought a huge warehouse full of car parts, all appear to be new and still in boxes. Some of the boxes were just crapped out so everything is being sorted and researched as best we can. Maybe 150-200 BMW items, mostly for older cars, but the models they are for are all over the board. I will list appropriate parts as we figure it out.

Hmm, I'm envisioning the warehouse at the end of "Raiders of the Lost Ark". Anyway, maybe one of the boxes will be full of NOS elephant skin wheel well panels, and CSL hoods/trunks. :D

No cosmetic or body parts so far and I seriously doubt it. We have dug up a few NOS gauges for E28 and E24, a new complete gauge cluster and housing we think for an E23,but that one will have to be checked out. Also a box new Bosch blue coil still in the original box. Who knows what we will keep finding

I doubt it, as REALOEM does not even show a master cylinder, or for that matter, any brake parts for a right hand drive. I know on the early E24s, the right hand drive car's had a completely different brake system. Maybe another RHD owner can chime in

Bert,

I have a RHD CS and M6 so am qualified...

RHD E9s run a master cylinder, as pictured. Hydraulic pipework runs around to the left side of the engine bay where two brake boosters are located. One runs two pots on the front callipers, while the other booster operates the other two pots on the front and the rears.

RHD Series 1 E24s ran an identical system to the E9s.

RHD Series 2 E24s ran an accumulator system. An accumulator (known as the "bomb") on the left of the engine provided pressure assistance. The bomb provides assistance and is pressurised from the power steering pump. The master cylinder has two distinct sections and is about double the length of the E9 master,

Enjoy,

Rod

Thank you Rod. Am I understanding you correctly when you say the right hand drive cars run a master cylinder, as pictured, to mean the picture of the master cylinders I posted??

RealOEM shows RHD parts like twin boosters if you select CSL model and Euro, it doesn't appear when looking at other models.

I agree as the RHD 635 cars have a unique brake system too. Guys in England go crazy looking for the proper MCs. I will say when I looked at CSL euro, it did show the same as a left hand dr car

If you still have your original MCs, why not send them to White Post Restorations or Apple Hydraulics and have them sleeved in stainless and rebuilt. Not cheap but should be better than original

RHD E9 CSI Master Cylinder

Here is a RHD master cylinder, from a 1974 CSi.
Note, the ports are all in line, 2 in, 2 out, also a nut to hold in the second valve within the system. It has 5 seals, I understand LHD has only 4.
Also, it shows the seal installer which was locally made and lent by the BMW club (it is excellent) and heat shield as it is next to the exhaust manifiold.

I have detail shots if required by anyone.

Not for sale

My master cylinder is not for sale, I just loaded the image to show members what my car has, which I believe is standard for RHD I am rebuilding the entire system.
Sorry for any confusion.

I have a right hand drive UK spec brake master cylinder, in need of a rebuild but it has a snapped off mounting flange that would need welding back on (I broke it banging it on the vise trying to get the lower section part that carries the seals out of the cylinder)(gutted, I didn't realise they were so brittle) It is for sale but I would need £ 160.00 plus postage to let it go. I'm off on holiday in 6 hours so I can't post any pictures until I get back in fourteen days.

Is this it or am I missing something- Also, can someone clarify the 22,20MM description for me?
