There was a trim delete coupe at the Brisbane Marina show on May 2, 2015. I didn't look at it very closely. I did take a pic of it and it was next to a very nice Baur Targa 2002, in that pic you can see the trim and door handles were deleted.

Not deleted, but here's black (known as shadowline in modern BMW terms) belt trim:

belongs to Cole Foster, the son of the legendary funny car racer & builder Pat Foster. The removed moldings are actually body side moldings but our coupes also have belt line moldings, they are the moldings at the bottom of the windows. Search “belt moldings” and also “body side moldings” on Google if you might doubt me. ~ John Buchtenkirch
It makes the E9 look popular enough to have a "kit car" made in it's image. Doesn't look bad, just weird.
Don't care for the Boy Racer wheels and mirrors.
I think we've seen this one but you're right, not my cup of tea. Why mess with such an elegant design?
