Sorry I couldn't scoop up those steelies. I know someone selling a set of dog dish hub caps. Are these desirable or difficult to obtain?

I don't think the dog dishes are hard to find, I'm looking for one, have 3. However I am having a problem locating some 1972-1973 steel wheels. I need 3 sets essentially. I specifically want (4) 4/73 dated wheels in good shape. Then I'm looking for (8) random years in good shape to make some wider wheels out of. So, I will start buying one here, one there wherever I can but have not found anything yet. Thanks for trying!!!!

Golf Bav Build Update

I just wanted to say thank you to ALL of you on here who have been a part of my build, whether if was advice, selling me parts, or even GIVING me parts. BMW guys/gals are the best, I tell ya, what a great community. I will be taking some progress pics tomorrow because Monday it goes to headliner and front and rear glass. Rear panels wrapped in the good ol' elephant skin, put finished interior in. Then off to mechanic for finishing touches on motor, get her a driver. I am still looking for a full set of steelies. Pre-73 Bavaria/2800. One other missing piece is the original plastic, vertical grooved e-brake handle. That thing has been impossible to find. I have and aftermarket grip that fits but I am looking for an original e-brake grip. Other than that, I think I have everything to finish the project. So, thanks again and I will be taking pictures tomorrow to post. Cheers fella's! I will thank everyone by name later, if you don't want any mention please PM me. Still about 3 weeks away I think.

Oh, the Dana Point vintage Porsche car show is 2 miles from my house tomorrow. I will be taking a break from the build for about 2 hours in the morning to cruise down and check it out. See all the fuss and I can point out all that I learned owning my 68' before gathering my senses back and coming back to the true mark. LOL. It should be fun, Dana Point is awesome. I will be riding my vintage Schwinn down if anyone wants to park at my house and join me for a bike ride down, parking can be a bare if you are not showing your car. Here is my cell, call me in the morning or text for address. Cheers. 949-632-9098

Chris yes what a relief on the corner pieces. The trunk panels are done, the big panel around the tool box is done and turned out great it just wasn't finished when I snapped the photos. It looks even better in person, couldn't be happier.

Shane, auto paint supplier can mix up some vinyl paint to match your new vinyl for wheel arches, side panels, etc.

Hey Chris, hey good idea didn't even think of that. Also, are there two flaps or pieces that go right in middle of fenders? You can see what I'm talking about in single my last single picture kind of upper right of picture.

Yes, vinyl glued to each quarter panel plus cardboard panel behind rear seat. Paint them and the wheel arch covers.

I am pretty excited to report that yesterday Carl told me I have a car that runs, drives, and stops!!!! After a new oil pump was installed, filter housing changed out and diff. mount it is on it's way back but we are going to address a few more things. Also found out the last interior piece; the under steering wheel cover that covers up all the wires etc is finished. It was in pretty bad shape so it took the longest. I can't wait to update pics once it's back home.

And a few more...

And some more.... still need to adjust hood to fit better, also, does anyone know why my AC knobs will not fit on here? Does 73' have a different half moon shape on the back than others? I will take pictures and show you guys what I mean. I'm going to hand paint roundels. Anyone recommend a good enamel paint for that, color codes for the blue and white? Thanks. I found the rear passenger side trim piece, but still need passenger side trunk belt trim piece for a 73'. Anyone have one laying around with the rubber in good shape? I have the piece minus the rubber, so all I really need is the rubber but I heard they don't make the rubber separate anymore or the belt trim.

The only temp switch available is SAE, you need to enlarge the mounting hole and good luck finding the extra fine thread chrome nut!

Stan...hey Chris um Chris is right I have bought from him before. I didn't really have a problem with the guy but I didn't like the way he handled Chris and Mikes requests. Anyhow no that back piece is on the later models. That piece looks like it goes along the very back of the trunk. I need the piece that goes along the side of the trunk on passenger side. It doesn't wrap all the way around like a big bumper SI. It tapers slightly towards rear corner, doesn't wrap around all the way. I'll post pictures later I'm on my iPhone. But thanks for heads up!!!!

Shane,

The spoiler looks great, glad you kept the silver kidney and 73 bumper guards, there are too few original e3s left.
