Not mine however I'm plenty familiar with the seller and believe him to have unquestionable character. This diff is a rare bird and as far as I am aware is a direct bolt in to an E9. Please feel free to correct me as I've never owned either, but thought coupe owners might want to see this.

I looked at the listed side loader.
The seller has $$$$ signs in his eyes, $2k.
I paid $150, ebay, delivered, just 5 years ago for the exact same diff. I saw it listed for at least 6 months before I purchased it.
Prices do go up, but this is crazy.

rebuilt??? everything new? If not that is crazy as you will most likely need at least clutches and seals...

I sold a used one last year for $600....

Thanks

Well, it has the oil cooler with it, but yes he is asking top dollar. With how scarce these babies are, maybe he will get it.

If anybody wants one for less, I have one and will likely be selling it soon. It is in as good shape. I just have to decide whether I was a 3.64 or the 3.07. I am leaning toward the 3.64 and hence I will likely sell the 3.07.

Isn't the ratio of that unit
extremely small for road conditions.
where would someone use this as i'm not that familiar with these cars running ratios.
On that matter, since my car, the 74, has the 3,64
isnt it about the most resonable for overall performance?
your inputs would be greatly appreciated.

There is currently a 3.45 for sale on ebay and I currently have this ratio in my car as it is. I actually think with the 4-speed the 3.07 would make sense to lower the revs in top gear. That said I wonder what happens in first. The M30 makes good torquestion so should be ok. That said, the diff is marked e24 and M90 so clearly was targetted for that combination together with the dogleg CR gearbox.

I will soon be getting a drive in a car with the 3.64 with OD 5-speed and will see how that is. I am curious as to what that does to 1st gear. I will give an update to the forum once I do this comparison.

Seems to me you want these cars to be right in the sweet spot at 80 MPH. Let em Rev. I guess I got lucky at the junk yard for my spare LSD. $40…..or $30 USD!!

The CSI has "long legs" but it is still a 3.25. The pairing of a 3.07 with a close ratio 5spd and a high torque m90 sounds sensible. (Is that what BMW sold? But then why not have a overdrive with conventional diff gearing?) I'm not sure about other driver applications. Am I missing something?

Could you tell us how the 3.64 final drives works along with your 5 speed over drive transmission please. Highway rpms plus speed, and of course 1st and 2nd gear behaviour. Thanks!
