Getting original purchase info from BMW

I did try this same contact address some time ago but got no response. I haven't followed up yet but as a result of this reminder I will do so.

This address worked for me as well. I received a reply in about a day.

I got a COA for my car from BMW earlier this year. It was not a rapid process (3-4 weeks IIRC), but I did get it in the end. Be aware that you don't get the same level of detail as Porsche supplies on its COAs, which include optional content.

Also want to point out we're talking about two different things here, right? Writing the archive group and getting an email response from Julia Oberndorfer or the like provides the original color of the car, original delivery location (for example, Hoffmann Motors Corp in New York City), the date of manufacture, and the date of delivery (usually about a week apart). It is an email. Whereas, ordering a COA is requesting (and paying for) a document that states largely the same, but on fancy paper, etc. The COA seems to be more popular with the P car group. I received a response from the archive group via email in two days. But I am sure it could take longer if on holiday.

Does anyone know how much the COA costs these days? And exactly what information is included in it? Does is also include the interior color? Any accessories listed? Or just the same items on the email response?

Stephen,

Different, but related. Cost for the certificate when I did it was 95 Euros. I only did it as I was advised by my freight forwarder that this was useful documentation for US customs in terms of the 25-year rule (I guess in response to some issues with falsified Defenders and Skylines). Mine didn't include any information on options, just the basics on colors, delivery dealer etc..
