Need advice on headliner installation

My car: 1972 with manual sunroof
Should the headliner be glued to foam that is glued to the molded fiberboard or should it just be glued to the edges, windows and sunroof, and forward edge?
I have heard both opinions
Has someone removed a headliner that they know was original (sunroof car)? Was it glued up?
It seems like it would be very difficult to get the wrinkles out if it was glued

I had my headliner replaced last month on my 1973 with original sunroof. The original headliner was glued over the edges of the sunroof.

Was it also glued to the formed fiber board or not? Did you get any photos of the board with the headliner out?
