Folks, I have checked everywhere and can’t find two parts. Peter tells me it is a plastic clip/block that goes under, and screws to, the forward portion of the rear window’s lower chrome trim. ...I can’t even remember what it looks like. Can someone post a picture of this part? Hopefully, it will jog my memory.

It goes here:

Thanks in advance.

I can go down and pull it out of the bag if that helps?

That must be it, Keshav. It seems to be a simple block that screws to the outside, top edge of the window frame and the forward, blunt face of the chrome trim.

I have no idea where these pieces could have escaped to... but if this is the only thing I lost, well, I should count my blessings!

I can probably fabricate something to work... If not, i may need to call in a favor!

Thanks!

Ed

That’s not something to fabricate Ed...give the gents at CK, Don or Carl at LaJolla, a call.
Oh ya, I forgot @Markos.........

The Hoarder was THE first person I thought about when I came up empty-handed this weekend.

I'll begin reaching out to folks.

edit - quick part# search shows they are still available, but I think there are other pieces used in attaching that chrome trim to the top edge of the window opening...that I don't have. The bag with all those parts must have been misplaced. :(

Hi @zinz,

Thanks for the PM. I'll reply here for transparency. As far as I know that are NLA. It is a hard rubber block. There is a hole in the block that faces the interior. This secures the block to the fender top (see the hole in your fender top. Then there is a hole on the leading edge of the block. This secures the chrome trim to the block.

To be honest I can't recall if I have spares. I think I sold them with the chrome trim. They aren't a complicated, part, and don't really need to be made of rubber. ABS plastic would do just fine. If you can't find any I can pull my trim off and make you some using mine as a template. Or mail you mine to borrow so you can make some. My car isn't doing anything. :D

This part is an excellent candidate for 3D printing. Cheap, not exposed to heat or UV, and printable on any run-of-the-mill printer.

Here they are in dirty parts car form:

Thanks for the extra picture, Markos. I simply don't remember seeing these, and I went through every remaining box and bag of parts this weekend.

Max has them

Let me know what you find. I'll be honest that diagram confuses me. I don't recall that these are interchangeable per side but perhaps I never noticed. Also, why was Mike Pelly making these for years?

Looking at your picture and Keshav's, they might be interchangable... who knows.

Makes sense. I think the screw just eats into the rubber on the end. I still don't know what that other block is. Let us know if they are available though.

I still don't know what that other block is.

I've been scratching my head for days about how this big, chrome piece attaches to the top edge of the window opening. There has to be something else that clips to that sharp edge, towards the rear?? I must have a bag of parts somewhere with all the missing pieces... so frustrating. You picture is a big help, perhaps someone has other pics of how it all attaches?

Thanks in advance, everyone.

Ed, it sits just like in the pic above, the screw seen is what holds the part to the sheet metal. You then push on the chrome part so it attaches to the other end of the rain gutter end and then press it onto this plastic part. The chrome end has a screw hole which will line up with the plastic part.....you’ll see it as in assemble. Hope I’m making sense...

it has clips that slip on the top edge
you just slide it on from the back edge to the top of the opening
the clips grap then you angle it down to screw the front to the block

I can see a witness mark on the underneath side of the chrome where there were clips. I simply can not locate the bag with missing parts. I will continue digging.

I appreciate all the tips and instructions.

Welp.... word from Paul Wegweiser is these parts are NLA.

Peter and I will get to fabricating. It’s a simple piece.

Let me know if you need a temporary sample. I’m going to the post tomorrow and won’t miss it. I can also just take some measurements and trace it.

Friend... can you help me out with some measurements? I found some hard rubber stock that I think I can make work. Any clues will make it easier; it's really not a complicated thing, it merely needs to be secured to the body so the chrome trim can be help firmly in place.

... for a mild sufferer of OCD, losing these and the clips along the edge is frustrating. I've looked fruitlessly several times now. It's not meant to be.
