I have (what I believe to be) nice wiper arms for my Bavaria. They had some real ugly, modern looking, black blade holders...efficient, but would stand out like a sore thumb. :(

I would guess the original blade holders were dull silver like the arms? If so, are they available anywhere? If not, do you just paint new black ones? If new black ones, which are the most period correct looking? I think the Bavs were 16" both sides.

Christop has some nice holders, but I suspect shipping might be expensive right now.

EDIT: Looks like your arms are the bayonet type? The ones Christop has is for the hook model.

Thanks. Those are beautiful. Probably too expensive for me with shipping even if they had the right attachment :(

I found these on eBay...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-TRICO-...L-16-2-PAIR-2-BOXES-INSTRUCTIONS/164215838135

...I think they would look good but the wiper rubber is so old it probably is of little use.

Amazon has these...

https://www.amazon.com/Trico-33-162...ico+classic+wiper+blade&qid=1590437735&sr=8-4

...but they've got a funky looking brown plastic adapter in order to use the BMW bayonet arm.

Thanks. Koopman shows those as being from an E9. I wonder if E9s are longer than an E3?

Did early (pre facelift) E3s have the bayonet or the hook attachment?

I'm not home to measure but if I remember correctly the E9 arms are 24" long with a 16" blade.
I would like to know the length of the E3 arms.
Thanks

On the recommendation of someone here I bought two Anco or was it Trico, not important, blade carriers in shiny metal. My Arms are bayonet but bought hooks by mistake.
Pulled the hooks off, slipped them on the bayonets, clicked in place. Beautiful.

E3/ E9 have the same length and both need the hook type.. although you have to insure the base matches the spindle.
Hopefully some once can confirm.

Thanks Chris and Tom (and BavBob), it looks like what I have is what E3 Bavarias came with when new...14" argent arms and bayonet mounts for the blade holders...at least until the black arms were introduced in 9/73.

So back to the original question...

What is everybody doing for matching argent 16" blade holders?

Somewhere on the forum they are mentioned.
I’ll have to look.

I spent a bunch of time on wiper blade assemblies today. I believe I have the a good answer for those of us looking for the right (available) part for the E3, here in the US. Some comments and photos:

1. The Trico Classic 33-150 is the right part for the E3. It is the same silver color as the the original E3 wiper arm, is bayonet style and is the correct 15” length. I just installed a pair and photos are below.

2. Online 3rd party fitment guides (e.g., wiper manufacturers, auto parts stores) are wrong. They all come-up with 16” (black) assemblies and all say the 33-150 does not fit the “Bavaria”. This is hogwash!

3. The very ugly (read:out of place) black Bosch wiper assemblies I just took off were 16” and plainly too long on the passenger side and stick out over the trim at the outer edge of the windshield. Pic at bottom.

4. I found the the Trico 33-150’s for about $11 each at a local O’Reilly auto parts store, a couple of miles from my house.

BTW, I’m still waiting for a comment about what is in the reflection of the windshield in the first two photos (and I’m not talking about me).
