Seeing that nice clean suspension is strong motivation to do it to my Alfa. But either the suspension all off how can you resist not cleaning up the entire underbody?

But this is the sort of slippery slope that causes cars to end up on jack stands for years.

Gutting the camper I purchased a few pages back...

Painting interior and cabinets white with oil based enamel. New seat covers. New Matteess. New cabinet hardware. Shaker cabinet doors. New counter tops. Minor wood repair. Kills paint the subfloor. New Vinyl flooring. New LED tails and side markers, new four pin wiring. Unlike my super slow car projects I plan to take two weeks total. I also need to install a class III hitch on my minivan and wire it for towing.

Seeing this gives me the sweats after what I went through restoring my trailer. Good use of those old carpentry skills. A real learning experience with benefits down the road. I know you are pretty thorough about everything so my little restoration advice is to seal every hole, crack, corner, edge and seam you can to keep moisture out. I found this marine grade ‘bedding’ compound that adheres, flexes and resists moisture really well. Rock on Markos!

In the assessment phase (measuring clearances). Mechanical FI cleaned, repaired and ready to go. Liners are good so 10:1 pistons ordered, but undecided on cams. Body on trailer and headed to painter soon. The hardest job will turning two flawed dashboards into one good one.

I didn’t realize these campers used so
much wood (heavy and rots). I’d have though aluminum would be prevalent for its strength andlight weight. I guess like everything those were built to a price point that didn’t plan for a service life of many decades.

These things last a surprisingly long time. There is quite a bit of aluminum on them. The tracks, all sills and door jambs. The skin. The aluminum tends to wiggle loose unlike the wood. The underside of the trailer is raw OSB on a steel frame. My old one had a c-channel frame. This one is a box frame. As far as weight goes, they couldn’t have gone any thinner or lighter on the wood.

Picked up two sheets of remnant corian. Looks blue in the pics but it is grey. Will be replacing the counter and the table with it.

Ok, enough of that wood and corianatuff.
Let’s get back to oily fast stuff.

Here is why I used to have 2002 but now I have a GTV.

Check out this bone stock run of the mill aluminum oil pan. The Italians can’t help themselves but build for driving performance, and then they combine it with artistic design. Compare this to a lowly plebeian BMW M10 or M30 sump.

Here is the bottom half:

And the top half:

It ... IMHO the Alfa didn’t make any great GT car after the war. That why we have E9’s, perfect combo of luxury, sport and practicality.

Ahh, you'll be fine, you have the same Dewalt driver I do.....unless you drop a bolt putting the hitch on the minivan .

Very funny.
It’s like you read my mind!
the first thing that popped into my mind was, “wow, a frickin’ hamster maze.”
