WTB: Original Pebra Key Blanks

My parts guy didn’t have any problem spending his own time, BEFORE I ordered, confirming they would be the correct plastic headed BMW logo blanks. Not all dealerships are created equal. Sorry to hear yours are not as customer oriented.

FWIW, 10 Years ago I made it a point to get to know one of the parts guys, bringing him a Dunkin’ Donuts coffee a few times. I think that helped him remember me, and know I valued his work on my behalf. Sure I love love buying cheaper on line but I make sure I buy some from my dealer to maintain that relationship.

Same original key I have which is what I'm hoping to get.

@bfeng -Yea, I'm trying to get to that point w the guys at Peter Pan, even though SF BMW is a mile away. You'd think their parts dept would be more in tune with classic cars and coupes specifically given all the CSLs Henry Schmitt owns/owned but they are literally clueless kids with zero interest in anything automobile related. Now ask them a question about the newest IPhone 12 and they'll wax lyrical for an hour straight. Disappointing.

Tyson, cannot agree more. Hold on to your seats as more and more people learn how to undrive. Most under 25 cannot parallel park, I was hit by a Tesla backing up becasue "My camera did not show you were there".

Success! Only took one day to come in. Peter Pan BMW pulled through!

Not cheap but they actually look like NOS stuff.

Sent the Pebra blanks to Santa Monica Lock today and spoke to Blaine. He's working on the locks right now and will make the keys from the Pebra blanks and test them with the ignition and all the locks before he sends everything back next week!
 
I need to get some keys for a friend, so the process is order the blanks from the dealer then send them to Santa Monica? He doesn't have a valet key, can I get that code off the trunk lock or? thanks.
 
Yes, keys from the dealer and then it will depend on if the ignition key opens his trunk. If so, yes, send the new key(s) and code (or the actual trunk lock itself) to Santa Monica. If it doesn't then I think he will have to use the code for the ignition which is sometimes on the older Pebra key itself.... Or the on top of the ignition barrel (not sure that's what it's called--part the key slips into). If his ignition key opens his glove box, that's another fairly straightforward place to get the lock out and hence the code.

Thanks, out of curiosity do we know the part number for the valet key-would that be 228?

So I decided to jump in and ordered part number 32 32 1 102 267 Two days later the key in the pictures showed up.
Not cheap at ~$69.00 list but it is a correct master key, cut to code and works perfectly. I am very impressed
that BMW will still cut these after all this time and considering that these keys were only offered on a limited
number of cars.

What you need to make this happen:

1) Proof of ownership
2) The Key code (should start with GC) off of your original to the car from BMW key (assuming no lock changes)
3) A BMW parts specialist who is willing to go the extra mile, contact BMW if necessary and fill out an online form
in order to get the correct key (most parts employees at this point have probably never seen these keys).
Note that BMW does NOT stamp the key code on the new key.

Bottom line, these are still available from BMW cut!!
