D-jetronic injection unit for 3.0 CSI

Hi, can anyone suggest where I can find a good complete injection, including the ECU etc. for an 3.0 CSI and what the cost is likely to be. Am I right that the same unit was used in other cars of the era?

In my experience on this site the sale of complete D-jet systems is rare, unfortunately. But keep looking here. D-jet was used on MB, Volvo, Saab, Citroen, VW, Porsche (914) and a few others in the late 60s through early 70s. You should check out and join jetronic.org (in Germany), Volker is an expert on D-jet and he might be able to help finding a D-jet system in Europe somewhere. Also, a weakness with D-jet is the availability of certain parts including trigger points, Manifold Air Pressure sensors and fuel pressure regulators which are very hard to replace. Replacement Injectors are available from Standard Motor Products (FJ 118) through Rock Auto and elsewhere. I just recently spent more than $1000 tracking down a problem with my D-jet by replacing components that turned out to be OK...my problem was solved by borrowing a MAP from a friend (20 miles away) which proved that the MAP I had rebuilt was incorrectly adjusted, a fact which escaped my brain at the outset. Anyway, good luck...you might also want to consider L-jet for which parts seem to be much more plentiful.
 
L-jet parts? From bimmers (and others) only 40 years old instead of 50-year old D-Jet?
There are certainly many modern systems that are likely easier to acquire, more adaptable to modifications, and enabled for easier troubleshooting. But some must hang on the hook of authenticity...

I have a near-complete L-Jet stashed away from an '80 528i...
 
Right Honolulu..But Frankie did ask for D-jet parts. In the meantime, more than 100 reads and no one has offered D-jet parts, let alone a whole system.

Hi Bill - ideally I'm after a D-jetronic to retain originality but I guess if that's going to be difficult I'll look at other options - the injection system has been replaced with carburetors - at this stage I'm pretty sure I want to change back to CSI specs... all depends on availability, cost and complexity.

Hi - I've posted a similar reply to Bill... ideally I'm after a D-jetronic to retain originality but I guess if that's going to be difficult I'll look at other options - the injection system has been replaced with carburetors - at this stage I'm pretty sure I want to change back to CSI specs... all depends on availability, cost and complexity.

Will the L-jetronic system suit the 3.0 M30 and how complicated will it be to install? I'm unlikely to try installing myself but this would give me an idea of what I'm up for if I go down the path and seek a professional to do it. There are no E9 specialists here in NZ so they're likely to charge me for their education... not to mention fixing any mistakes they make along the install. I guess that's all part of the joy owning a 50-year old vehicle :)
 
I’ve sold a few csi setups to customers or friends. With the recent uptick in e9 prices I would guess a complete working system would be worth around 3000.00 us?
Also- I was in Auckland twice last year and twice the year before.
I removed a csi system in the Mideast last year to make a Motronic system.
I can ask that person if his system is available.
The TPS is available new and rebuilt.

Thank you. Would it be possible that the car had carburetors installed at the factory? The VIN and engine number match and according to the E9 VIN register the car is a CSI model.
