E21 320i intake runner questions

thanks for the tip i guess i will be getting the rubber mounts. Anybody know how do the dyno numbers b35 intake vs long runners?

BTW- I measure 1" gap at booster to runner..... you may need to look further than mount.
Zero chance I would use poly, cars are already noisy and vibrate too much.

Hello,

It is an old thread, but die anyone do a dyno run before and after changing only the runners? (To find out the results of only changing them).
And what are the results/benefits focusing in maximum power and low end torque?

Kind regards hony

Hello,

I also did the upgrade today and in the picture you can see the comparision of short and long runners. I didn't drive that much, but it appears to me, that the engine revs a little bit higher, but still pushes hard at low rpms. Throttle response stayed the same. I have to visit my typical driving roads to have a closer look.

Doing the upgrade seems to be no mistake but also noch gain of plenty extra horsepower like sometimes mentioned in the www.

Kind regards

If I am not mistaken the longer runners push the available torque to a lower rpm range but there is no change in total torque or hp.

I went for a second ride and now the Motronic 1.3 has fully adapted again (I took off the starterbattery while replacing the starter motor and so lost all memories and the Motronik 1.3 ecus are some kind of weird for the first few miles when they have to reset everything).
I have the feeling, that now after some kilometers, my modified 3,5l pushes harder at low rpm and still likes to rev a little bit higher up to 5600 rpm. It is way more fun to drive! I try to get another appointment at the power testbench and then I could compare my original setting and the acutal one.
Normally your right, but some forum members claim, that the increased "space" of the longer runners have a positive impact also on higher rpms. Now I´m also believing that.
Kind regards
