who knows what size screw is used on a/c side vents on console?

so the title asks the primary question - i would guess either 2.9 x 10 or 2.9 x 13. the follow up question is what is the correct finish - silver or black? i have seen pics of both ways. this is a pic of a well known car with silver - both for holding the a/c plate in as well as the grilles. the 4.2 x 32 countersunk screws that attach to the a/c plate aren't available in silver from belmetric - only in black oxide.

when I pulled mine apart they were black and slightly rusty. I bought replacement screws and the upholstery washers from Belmetric.
 
Well, my 70 2800 is silver but the tiny screws are slotted! It is original as I never removed the console when I restored it. On my coupe I used black and painted the tiny ones from ACE. It took me a minute to recognize my former coupe.

BMW parts catalogs say all 4 screws that attach the side panels are recessed oval head,
ST4,2x32 and in my notes that worked for the three lower ones but notes say I needed to use an M4 and the top location?!. Black oxide as I found them but PO had done some work there.
No notes on the smaller screws, but black - as I found them.
 
Chris, the pic above is from your malaga coupe. i know the ones in the side grilles were small ... i just don't know the size of the small ones and it isn't listed in the orange book or realoem.

as i remember, my cars have previously had black and they were slotted also. i am going to use black oxide and use a flat oval head (philips)

i have black and stainless hollow washers in various sizes (3, 4 + 5 for sure). with the hollow washers, oval head countersunk screws look the best.
