Trying to be a new e9 owner

Th current car on BaT may be a better option. A lot of the repairs commented on are things that sure, are somewhat easy to do, but not critical and yet may lead to a lower overall final price. If you’re someone wanting a partial project that’s a win. The spare parts are helpful too
That one on bat is going to go for a lot I’m sure

Looks little odd ad not sure it’s real as the dollar amount isn’t in US dollar and it says car in ca

That car looks a bit rough - every part is going to need to be redone - dash is cracked, seats are worn, paint is poor, etc. This is the problem that you’ll run into though, realistically you want this car for $10k for its bones and some of the basic bits - glass, switches, seat frames, interior panels, etc but you’re going to spend $50-60 making it good. The guy is not going to want to go that low so the car won’t sell. Easier for all when it’s a car that sells for $40 and is worth that, drivable, looks presentable but still some items for you to slowly work your way through. I suspect the BaT car will be in that $35-40k range but I am far from the expert, just that prices are down a bit now it seems. That type of vehicle is probably a better target for you, there aren’t many cars that are in the $15-20k range that actually seem worth it given the economics. We can all agree on what is a parts car/rolling shell, what is a really nice car and what is a solid car but one that needs work and usually price point seems clear on those. It’s the chasm between parts car and drivable that is often a hard one to negotiate, and that’s right where you have suggested putting yourself.

Seller says its a project car that needs work to be driveable. It also comes with a bunch of sheet metal parts. This, combined with the fact that its a Chicago car, would lead me to believe it needs a lot of metal work and may not be structurally sound.

This car doesn't meet your "good bones" requirement.
I should of listened to your advice 24 hours of driving to and back with an empty trailer each way :(

That sucks. Before you take another road trip, try to find someone on the forum to look at a car for you. I had several forum people jump in to help me when I acquired my car, and they were all great.

Was good little trip though

It's missing the entire rear panel. It's one to pass on for sure. The cost you would pay a body shop to make it look decent would exceed just buying one with a rear end in tact

Only reason I’m interested is due to the refurbishment done in 2021 it seems like entire car was gone thru.

Well, no rear structure, but all of those steel panels are actually being repro'd.
And so are most of the trunk trim parts
EU prices (i may be off by 50 to.100 euro on each):
Trunk lid 650
Tailpanel 650
Spare tire wheel well 450
Fuel tank panel 400
.
That's 2k+ shipping and (ungodly) import. Then you have actually get them welded in and painted . Outsourcing the work? 10k?
And I believe Oilsdesign sells wood+vinyl the boot floor panels.

After you've filled the hole in the car, you'll have a 13K+ hole in your wallet.

I have a friend who can do the work in his shop for discount parts I already priced but little on the fence as this car has been around the block sold twice this year already. I will see but not hopeful of taking it on.
