My BMW journey has begun

I have been considering a quick jack. I used to have a midrise lift but sold it when I sold my 911.
A mid-rise lift would be great if I had a 3 or 4-car garage with one space dedicated to the lift. They are too heavy to move about. The QuickJack is a great second option and I am completely satisfied with it.

How do you guys restore your center console? I would love to strip off the plastic and wrap it in leather.

I suppose I could thin out the side pieces to accommodate the additional thickness of the leather. I'm considering removing my AC anyways.
Be advised that if you remove your a/c, there is a big market for the parts. If you go this route, don't keep your a/c console. Instead, you'll make money buying a non-a/c console and selling the a/c console.

Shift console from CS-Werk (that text to the left is a link) for the shift console, but I also think that @sfdon has them without the requirement to send in your old part for refurbishment.

Side panels (that text is a link) are 280 euros, not sure if Don has that part but could have mine.

If we are talking about the parts you need to change to a non-a/c car, the shift console in your car does not need to be changed when you remove the a/c.

You need the two side panels - they have a different contour than the a/c side panels, along with the decorative wood piece that forms the tray bottom in the non-a/c cars. If you are getting panels from @e9levesque, make sure they are non-a/c panels. Otherwise the decorative wood tray piece won't fit. If the panels he has don't work. I have a non-a/c console I bought years ago to use as a test bed for my gauge panel, but it would need to be refinished. I do not have the decorative wood tray bottom piece.

The parts people changing to a/c need that are hardest to find are the side panels with the openings for the plastic fan covers, control panel with the controls and the evaporator box with the evaporator, fan, mounting bracket and hard lines that go through the firewall. You should be able to sell this stuff as a set.

Yep, David and I have been talking back and forth. A few questions/confirmations:
1. I have a non-AC car without the side vents, so my parts should work for him and I would use his side consoles with the vent cutouts. I have all of the rest of the parts that I need as you mentioned so agree that he could sell that as a set. In my estimation the intermediate piece and the faceplate are the most valuable parts since other parts (evaporator housing, etc) are interchangeable with E3s and more available, or are parts one would want to upgrade anyways if doing the changeout (evaporator, hard lines, e.g.)
2. Is the shift console different between AC and non-AC cars? David has an automatic, I have a manual. Can we each keep our respective shift surrounds and use them with the alternate side console pieces without issue? I thought I had heard that there was a difference in the manual shift console between AC or non-AC in its rear edge.
3. Any difference in side panels between auto/manual cars? I didn't think so, as that would lead to a need for 4 variations in side panels (auto-AC, auto-nonAC, manual AC, manual non-AC) which I don't believe is the case.

Thanks all.

Definitely not for the faint of heart. The tank was rinsed out, aired out for a week then a shop vac was plugged in so that any residual fumes would be pulled out before they could accumulate while cutting and welding.

I believe the side panels do not differ between the manual and automatic cars. Same with the shift platforms. You can double check me by looking at the parts book and/or REALOEM.
