Interesting to note from this leaflet detailing options by BMW Concessionaires GB that 'sports horns' were offered

Clearly different from standard horns - does anybody have these fitted to their car ?

Enquiring minds would love to know if they made the car any faster, or handle any better ?!

They make the car faster if you blare those and flash high beams so the guy/gal in front of you pulls over...or, they will brake check you and you come to a complete stop.

Always a tough call.

These trumped air horns were very popular in Italy. On the small winding roads you blew them each time you were heading a sharp curve

This one is in good working condition, 65€ plus shipping from Germany

Those are not the same as in the BMW brochure.
The red sport fanfare horns are Bosch

I have regular "town" horns and "country" air horns on my Jensen (sorry, not "sport"), they are attention getting for sure - I had to buy a new compressor but kept the old horns as the new ones don't sound as good

Do you know the actual frequency of the horns? I'm interesting in what they sound like.

Ha! The PO of my car had installed a set of the Maserati horns and at some point had wired them to a switch which was non-functional when I got the car. I revised the wiring, added relays and kept both sets of horns. My Maserati ones don’t do the arpeggio of the above video but instead do the triple blast, it’s similar in quality to the standard BMW double horn but has a bit more complexity to it. I suspect the BMW version of the Maserati triple horn would be the same. I’ve attached pictures below. These mount perfectly in the space in front of the radiator and don’t disturb anything which is why I kept them. The rocker switch just lets me choose whether I want the BMW or Italian version. I always thought this was someone’s idea of thumbing their nose at the Ferrari/Maserati drivers - I’ve taken your voice and put it into this Bavarian vehicle. But who knows. Since the time I took the pictures I have taken them out and cleaned them. I have a video of the sound but I don’t think I can easily attach videos inline here.

May want to check this older thread on these types of horns

And if anyone needs it, happy to post pictures of the rocker switch and its wiring diagram for the original vs Maserati horns. I rewired them with connectors so that any future owner can just disconnect them on either end easily for removal or replacement
