Power steering pump

I have an E9 with a failing power steering pump and am having difficulty in finding someone in the UK to repair it. They are no longer available new from BMW and although alternatives to the ZF appear to be available they are currently out of stock and bearings and seal kits seem to be a problem. Can anyone come up with a solution?
 
....they are different types, check which pressure / ID is shown on the label

Failing how? If leaking you are on right path but if just making a weird noise like low power steering fluid....just in case: check tightness of the bolts that hold the "case" together. If loose pump can suck in air, with same effect as low fluid.
 
If you have the late pump (#2) easy enough to put a 13 wrench on the bolts just in case. If was internal resistance/something stuck belt would complain and be visibly slipping.
May be the bearings. There is a "relief valve" which regulates pressure accessible from outside on early pump. Clean and flush if you see any debris. There's a nice writeup on the rebuild process by @Stevehose

Thread 'Power steering pump rebuild'

Hello friends, welcome to another episode of Kitchen Table Projects, where I stumble through another component fixup and annoy my wife at the same time. This episode will be the power steering pump, mine has begun screetching at >4k rpm, and dissasembly of the bearings (more on that later) has revealed that they are shot. All is apart and cleaned, I will try to document some things that aren't covered in the blue manual (which has some decent detail), like the PITA involved when it says to "remove the needle bearing" which was like solving a japanese box puzzle.
