I have been considering a quick jack. I used to have a midrise lift but sold it when I sold my 911.
I installed it. There was some grinding to get it to fit.Did you install your cross brace or did it come with the car? Does a cross brace require any mods or is it a simple bolt-on part?
A mid-rise lift would be great if I had a 3 or 4-car garage with one space dedicated to the lift. They are too heavy to move about. The QuickJack is a great second option and I am completely satisfied with it.I have been considering a quick jack. I used to have a midrise lift but sold it when I sold my 911.
What brand is it and where did you buy it? I like the idea of an engine bay brace for our E9s but only if it doesn't present any major headaches.I installed it. There was some grinding to get it to fit.
I got it from a forum member here (daddywad). I spent about 60 minutes fitting it but not everyone has had to make any modificationsWhat brand is it and where did you buy it? I like the idea of an engine bay brace for our E9s but only if it doesn't present any major headaches.
I had mine done by an upholstery shop - vinyl or leather is you choiceHow do you guys restore your center console? I would love to strip off the plastic and wrap it in leather.

I actually thought the same, would require significant flattening on the contact areas to fit.Leather will be tight.
Be advised that if you remove your a/c, there is a big market for the parts. If you go this route, don't keep your a/c console. Instead, you'll make money buying a non-a/c console and selling the a/c console.I suppose I could thin out the side pieces to accommodate the additional thickness of the leather. I'm considering removing my AC anyways.
Where do I get all the non A/C trim parts?Be advised that if you remove your a/c, there is a big market for the parts. If you go this route, don't keep your a/c console. Instead, you'll make money buying a non-a/c console and selling the a/c console.
Welding a gas tank... that takes balls! My gas tank was really rough. My buddy cut out the worst of it and has welded in a new panel with the matching bead. View attachment 229191View attachment 229192
I believe the side panels do not differ between the manual and automatic cars. Same with the shift platforms. You can double check me by looking at the parts book and/or REALOEM.Yep, David and I have been talking back and forth. A few questions/confirmations:
1. I have a non-AC car without the side vents, so my parts should work for him and I would use his side consoles with the vent cutouts. I have all of the rest of the parts that I need as you mentioned so agree that he could sell that as a set. In my estimation the intermediate piece and the faceplate are the most valuable parts since other parts (evaporator housing, etc) are interchangeable with E3s and more available, or are parts one would want to upgrade anyways if doing the changeout (evaporator, hard lines, e.g.)
2. Is the shift console different between AC and non-AC cars? David has an automatic, I have a manual. Can we each keep our respective shift surrounds and use them with the alternate side console pieces without issue? I thought I had heard that there was a difference in the manual shift console between AC or non-AC in its rear edge.
3. Any difference in side panels between auto/manual cars? I didn't think so, as that would lead to a need for 4 variations in side panels (auto-AC, auto-nonAC, manual AC, manual non-AC) which I don't believe is the case.
Thanks all.
