WTB: Ivory early model (1970 2800 CS) speedometer

I didn't know face plates also came in ivory. Mine is a fairly early 70 2800CS (VIN 2270065) and the face plate is black. I may have a spare speedometer, but I don't know if it is for a 2800CS, and I am pretty sure the face plate is black on it also. I will look for it to make sure. I know...

    1971 2800CS

I know many people don't like the lower molding. I installed them on my 2800CS many years ago when it was my daily driver. They are not drilled/screwed, just stick on style so could easily be removed. It is no longer my daily driver, but I still use it on my 4-day weekends. I have gotten...

WTB: 1x Driver door manual window regulator - ASAP/SOS!

I have made that part also for the right door. It is still working. I was able to find a new regulator for the left door many years ago and it is still working too.

FS. New Leather Door and Rear Panel Covers & Front Seat Covers with Headrest Covers.

I would take the front seat covers if the pleats were in the other direction. Doesn't match my 70 2800CS.

    1969 2800 Rear Spring Options?

Before you change the springs, you may want to install the rear Bilsteins first. When I replaced my 40-year-old Bilsteins, the car went from a slight sag in the rear to a slight lift in the rear.

    More Trouble In Portland

I know most race organizations require a flywheel shield and some a drive shaft ring in case a u-joint fails, but I have never heard of a full driveshaft shield. That has to be a very rare type of failure. I can understand why that got your attention. You are very lucky to get out with no...

    Weber advice

I had the JAM Engineering kit installed in the 80s. I am pretty sure it has the 32/36 Webers. I like them a lot and have needed only one rebuild since then. I drove it for at least 5 years before I had an over-center issue. I don't know what changed to make it happen. It was easily fixed...

What type brake fluid is recommended

I agree with you on the aeration. I thought the same thing when I kept bleeding it to try to get it to work. Someone pointed out that the DOT 5 fluid must be poured very slow, or this fine aeration can occur. It may also occur when the fluid is originally filling the brake lines. All I know...

What type brake fluid is recommended

Here is my experience with DOT 5. I used it in my 1973 FJ55 Landcruiser. Before I used it, I had to rebuild or replace at least 2 wheel cylinders every year due to corrosion. I used it primarily off-road and water crossings were done occasionally. Before I filed and bled with DOT 5, I...

    Caddy Coupe deVille

I have always liked those outrageous 60 Cadillacs. Other than my Coupe, I consider myself a Ford enthusiast, but that Cadillac and the early Corvettes get my thumbs up.

    Exhaust balance pipe

It is my opinion that cross pipes and X-pipes work well on a V8 because of the uneven exhaust pulses. I think the BMW in line 6 has very even exhaust pulses and do not benefit with the addition of a cross pipe. I am pretty sure BMW split the exhaust manifold to help keep the exhaust flowing...

When did you first experience ageism?

I have never been concerned about getting old. After I turned 70 and had to start drawing Social Security, I figured I would end up paying most of it in income tax. I told my boss I wanted to start working 3 days a week. He was just happy that I did not want to retire. BTW, he is 87. I...

Greetings from Mexico - Polarissilber 2800 CS with Schnitzer engine

I thought about that, but he mentioned something about considering removing the side reflectors and since that is a North American spec it would have had American spec taillights. I don't think the amber turn signals look bad, they just don't seem original. Then again, if he wants to remove...

Greetings from Mexico - Polarissilber 2800 CS with Schnitzer engine

If it is a 69, the taillights must have been replaced at some time. I am pretty sure all the early 2800CS had red turn signals. I remember Murry Fowler telling me to guard those red turn signal taillights because they are hard to find.

Warning, non-BMW, but a cool coupe nonetheless

The only Volvo that I have seen and really liked was the P1800 ES. I am not really into wagons, but it has a good look to it.

    Ford Cobra

Interesting, I thought all Shelby AC Cobras had aluminum bodies. I thought the fiberglass versions were the kit cars. Apparently, there were Shelby built AC style Cobras in fiberglass. Chris the 69 Cobras are fairly rare but there are still a few around. Actually, a very rare bird is a 426...

    Ford Cobra

Isn't it actually a Shelby AC Cobra? I know it is Ford powered but I don't think Ford ever built one. This is my 1969 Ford Cobra. Not in the same class as a Shelby AC Cora but it is a true Ford Cobra.

Anyone here an original CS Register member?

Wow Steve, I didn't remember sending that information to Charlie. I am sure there are many other things I don't remember too. I am amazed it is still around. Yes, I would like to have it back. Maybe it can free up some space for you. I will PM my address to you. Thanks. White-out sure...
