    CSL Golf RHD for sale

Hi Just so this site can return to a more convivial tone, I'll clarify the "sale" history. I originally brought the car to be used as an interesting daily driver. I had no intention of it being a "trailer queen". I brought (for USD10k) what I was led to believe was a fully restored body and...

CSL part accumulation - gearbox question..

Hi, I'm in Papamoa and have been down the same path you're heading with my CSL. It started like yours in bins and got it all together finally after years and $$ (oops missed a few, I should have said years and $$$$$!). I still have ups and downs re owning it after finishing putting it all...

    CSL Golf RHD for sale

Hi, After searching online a fair price seems to be around NZD100,000 That equates to approximately USD68,000, GBP47,000, AUD93,000. Does that sound fair given shipping and some taxes would need to put on top of that? The UK has 10%+20% import taxes, but only 5% for 30+year old cars...

    CSL Golf RHD for sale

Hi Thanks for the positive comments! A couple of replys to comments: re city pack: I have no idea what "city pack" really means, but it does had a steel rear bumper and I have a good front bumper (chrome) that came with the car. I chose to powder coat the rear bumper black as I like the...

Hi My 1973 Golf CSL is for sale as it gets almost no use (a quiet run around the block every couple of months) - I don't know what price to ask so if you're interested, can you please suggest a serious price. The car has undergone a very serious rebuild, all sorts of transplants and a...

    Major surgery required

Hi this is not a step by step instruction, but there are quite a few pictures in this link of repairs similar to what you're facing, and may be of help. https://www.flickr.com/photos/123429072@N07/sets/ It's a long and expensive process! All the best. Bryce

On the road after a long journey

Hi My Golf CSL finally made it back on the road after some very serious surgery, all sorts of transplants and a cosmetic makeover. The pictures show the story really - plus show how rust can be hidden on these cars. But now it has reemerged rust free and is a blast to drive (one distance...

    Windsheild supply

Steve, I got my windscreen new from BMW (Coombs Johnson) - fits great. It was imported from Germany and I believe it was around NZD1,800 all up. Fortunately (or unfortunately) my original windscreen was broken when some guy knocked it over on the floor when It was out of the car..... Bryce

    Windsheild / Dash

I put my windscreen back in last week (it's been in and out several times), but I highly recommend having the dash installed prior to installing the windscreen. I tried to install the dash with the screen in place but no success... so have no idea how you could install the dash after the screen.

What experiences have people had (good or bad) with the fit of new sheet metal parts?

Hi, where in NZ are you? There was a CS that was stripped apart for a restoration but was for sale in Rotorua last year. It may not have sold - he was asking around $1000. I don't know but it may have doors that are good enough compared with $3000ea! I can try and find/contact him again if...

    RHD 3.0 CSL at auction

Hi, Don't give up on aluminum door skins. It could be cheaper and better to keep you current door frames and have rust repaired, and then replace aluminum skins with new ones from http://www.wallothnesch.com/e/frameoffer.htm. That's what I'm doing. I received the new skins in excellent...
