1972 body parts needed urgently

Hi, with all the Australian information going back and forth I'm having trouble understanding what's going on... I have a pretty darn good front nose trim piece for the e9. It needs polishing and has a very small blemish. I also have a car being shipped to Australia soon so I could send it with the car. Please let me know if it is needed and just offer me a fair price. I don't need eBay pricing, just something fair... I know someone on the forum will come up with something reasonable... It's hard to photograph the trim but right around the red book, 1/3 across from left to right is the blemish. I'm thinking a polisher could fix it and I'll send some more pictures when my computer decides to receive them from my phone. Also note the oxidation- again, something that I think can be addressed.

Many many thanks contacting me. OK, my car a 1972 cs will probably be in a container by the end of next week to be shipped to Australia from LA. Nose trim you have looks pretty good to me from what I can see. I have no idea what one is worth? Just let me know what you would like for it and its a deal if price seems Ok. Maybe it could get shipped from you to LA in time to go with my car but, could come in the car you are sending. Hi Peter, just thought I would let you know car is supposed to arrive LA Monday so I am looking forward to the trim piece arriving say mid week? I will check with the shipper as to when it might be packed and let you know. I feel sure we will have to Thursday or Friday so all good. I appreciate your help very much. Thank you again Phil

Not essential but from the photos ( I bought the car unseen due to no travel possible) I have noticed the window seal between the two side windows look very ordinary as well (Not the small front quarterlight window) so two of those would be great to have as well.

HI EVERYBODY, through the help and advice of so many of you I have managed to source all the critical parts I will need for the moment. Again, many many thanks for all your help. I am sure I will be back on the forum as soon as my car arrives and I get a better understanding of the frontal damage. Hi Peter, being new to the site I am having problems tracking whether you got my message wit the address the part has to go to? Did you get that information and also the time frame being no problem now as my shipper reckons will not get packed for at least another week maybe even 10 days. Hi Peter HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOURS! Sorry to bother you during this festive time but I am concerned about the nose trim piece being sent to the shipper in Paramount CA. Did you manage to get it away OK? I am sure I sent you the address details but just in case here they are again

On a separate topic I have been trying to decode my VIN (2250109) without success. I have tried a few of the sites on the forum but they either do not open or will not do the 7 digit numbers. Any clues please where I can look? I really am curious.

There is no decoder for our seven digit VINs and there are no records from the Hoffman era when they were imported here. BMW can give you build date and color only. Hoffman 3.0CS coupes had leather, A/C, front power windows standard, options were metallic paint, sunroof, Limited Slip Diff, that is about it.

Hi Chris, well that is still more than I knew before! When you say Hoffman era did that make it some sort of special model or connected to the designer or some such thing? I know mine has leather, power windows (mine looks like it has 4 power window switches?) well four rocker switches in the centre console. Has metallic paint but no sunroof and LSD unknown. Thank you again. I cannot believe how helpful and polite people are on the forum and don't waffle on for hours about unrelated information. Cheers Phil

Phil, Max Hoffman was the BMW Distributor for the US market and he decided what options he wanted to include. A few coupes were probably ordered for European delivery and could be slightly different.

Hi Wes, I guess you saw this? Can you believe it USD$145000. None one even asked did it have any rust in any of the suspect areas! or seemed to care. Your CSL just went up and up and up in value! And our CSs I guess?
