Hi Manthri - Thanks for all the engine porn. Drew Greg and I ran into Ray Korman at the Hilton Head Concourse three weeks ago. He was displaying one of his race cars. We got into a discussion with him about his intake manifolds (Drew and I both have the same manifold you have in your car), and Ray said "Yeah, we had to stop making those when our supplier's building burned down, with all the drawings inside. Volume was just too low to recreate those." Ray is in his 90s and they haven't offered that manifold for many years now, but he remembered the story like it was yesterday.

That’s an interesting story. Thanks for that :)

I wonder how we even got one from them.

Some random pics from the buttoning up stage. New carpet, new door panels, new center console wrap in pleather, new headliner. It’s all nice. The trunk is decent. If I had it to do over again, I think I’d use a darker felt (I know, it’s all non-standard) and do the wheel arches with Wiola’s repro parts. Gotta get new sunroof cables from rogerstii, and install that thing, and then I think we can get outta pit lane for now.

500 mile check up. Adjust valves, change oil, retorque head, fit AC system. And add bling to the hood. I like that logo. Wasn’t sure what that would look like.

Love the motor. Not nearly the low end loss of torque I thought might happen, and very nice giddy up on the high end. The thing is a joy to drive.

I need one of them fancy photographers. I’m no good at this. But I put this bling on there. It’s not terribly noticeable, but it looks good if you search it out.

This thing should be back in mid-season form in late fall. Just in time to not drive it in the rain. Yay.

Seriously though, it’s going to be as good as it ever was. A sorted car, if ever there was one.

A new project? Your GranatRot coupe was completely done and fixed, so this must be another one?
Looks like you're going in serious - I'm happy for the coupe that he/she has such a meticulous owner.

That’s an interesting story. Thanks for that :)

I wonder how we even got one from them.
I notice on post # 109 pic #21, and post # 97 pic # 49 that your oil-fill indicator tube has a collar that might be a bracket attached somewhere to the engine block. My triple carb setup is similiar to yours, but does not have that collar. Could you take a photo showing how the tube is attached? My tube has no bracket and is loose. I need to secure it.
Thanks, Drew

Here is the drawing of the tube, collar and bracket.

I was searching high and low as I put the coupe back together and could not find my stand-off for the dipstick. I ended up grabbing one from a newer engine 3.4L that I have on a pallet/dolly that I know has very low miles. It stands between the dipstick tube and the oil filter housing.

Just today I discovered where the original was. It was attached to some bit of metal smog tube (original to 1972) that crossed under the engine and had flared ends. I believe that the original for my car was attached to that tube rather than the later version that stands off from the oil filter housing.

I will grab a picture of my current installation when I get the coupe back from the alignment shop.

It attaches to the oil filter bolt, did I forget to send you a pic of mine?
