Lets see simple math:

I love it when you guys spend three pages bantering about the direction of the bumper guards or some other esoteric matter. It's an indiction of how much some of you, not me for sure, know about our lovely cars.

I do think that $46,900 is a bit much for a carbed, DOTed reflector hung coupe with questionable mileage. As someone else said, why do a major restoration to a 35+ year old coupe driven less than 1500 miles per year.

Originality is very important to some of us seriously mentally ill people...

Speaking for only myself I do not dispute that I have a very serious mental illness! They have tried repeatedly but even the best specialists cannot treat my condition...:(

Incredibly stupid tiny little details like which red handled screwdriver is correct for my tool kit is very important to me...

The reality is my screwdrivers are locked inside my tool kit that is locked inside my trunk that is locked inside a garage which is locked behind electric gates!!!! No one will ever see my damn screwdrivers until after I die but I will die happy knowing they are correct...

If you think the BMW guys are nuts try talking to a Porsche owner about tiny details! Those guys (myself included) will argue over the correct texture of the undercoating and exactly where it starts/stops within 1/4 inch on the bottom of the car. Crazy isnt it?

Ask a few early 911 experts about which are the correct wrenches in a 1973 tool kit and CNN will no longer be focused on the wars in the Middle East... The war between the 911 experts will overshadow every other war...

The 73 E9 that sold for $46K is a great Color Combo, a 4 Speed, has a Sunroof, is Low Milage and is a totally rust/accident free Calif car...
If that car is as good as it looks and you want close to the best where are you going to find another one? Assuming you can find another E9 optioned like that car with no rust/accidents that needs to be restored you will spend years and probably close to the same amount to finish the car to that condition...

The dealer is a serious player in the vintage car arena and knows a good deal when he sees it... $28K at the auction was all the money but the dealer gambled using his knowledge and won the bet! BIG TIME!!!

Now lets hope that this raises the bar in what are cars are worth for the rest of us!
