I just wanted to let the E9 community know that I have put my 72 CS up for sale on BAT. I've owned for car since 2009 and loved every minute of it. It is however time to move on to other projects. While I'm at it I also wanted to express my appreciation to this forum and it's very helpful members for helping to make my ownership a great experience. Cheers!

Good luck with the sale- nice looking Coupe and I hope if finds a good caretaker.

Yes I saw that auction and could tell by the photos and description that you know a lot about E9s, their risky areas, and how to address them! So I’m not surprised to find you on here.

It looks beautiful, good luck with the auction. Of the 3 up for auction right now on BAT, this would be my choice hands down.

Very nice looking car, This is a color that BMW should have done. It really brings out the lines of the car and it gives it a very rich look.

Looks like questions from bidder KirkVandezande are getting into the weeds which he has done in several other auctions without placing a realistic bid.

Beautiful car and color! Unique set of choices.
Perhaps KirkV is really excited about this one and intends to buy it :).

Guy is a yanker. Hes not going to be a buyer
Yup. BAT is filled with tire kicking pontificators who love to comment on things they are not expert on. It's easy to spot them by looking at their profile to see how many cars they have actually purchased or sold. Or their continual low bids to stay relevant in their own minds. I wish BAT had a way to filter these people out, perhaps with a paid subscription of something toothy like $250-$500 a year. That would make it so much better for the sellers IMHO. This car looks great and hope it sells for a big number!

I'm just an observer on the sidelines, but there are bits on this car I really like: the flag sideview mirrors, the weber air filter covers, intake manifold, shock tower stiffener bar, and that chrome plated valve cover (never seen one of those before, they're normally flat black).

Yes I agree this car is really nicely detailed. As the seller notes, the rust bubbles on the doors should be an easy fix. It is only the rust on the rear quarter panel that would worry me.

Period Mercedes colors seem to work well on E9s... I have a CSi in a Mercedes metallic similar to this and it works well with the shape and bright work on these cars.

You have a very nice coupe in a custom color. My '73 USA coupe was made in Feb. 1973. The over-the-shoulder seatbelts were a mess to put on with the retractable lap belts. I was able to replace them with a fully retractable 3-point belt with an extension that looks like yours with them anchored in the roof.. I was under the impression that 1972 and older E9's had the over the shoulder belt anchored in the "C" pillar and threaded up past the headrest on the front seats.
Do you know if your roof anchor was custom or factory? Thanks, Drew

Hi Drew, Not sure actually. On mine the retractor is located low just aft of the door opening and as you mentioned threaded via an anchor on the roof. It works well. I'm guessing that there was a factory anchor in the body up high since when I installed the rear three point belt I was amazed to find an anchor point in the structure of the parcel shelf.

Wow, only $39.5K for this beauty? That is a serious bargain for a car with this much blood, sweat, and tears put in to it. Crazy. And yeah, that Kirk guy, 9 questions and no bids. Congrats to the seller on a really nicely done car! :)
