Greetings from hot and humid Miami…Looking to buy an E9 AC switch. I’ve been able to rebuild and reseal mine with epoxy, it’s functional at best but good only as a spare. Please PM if you have. Immediate buyer. TIA

The year makes a difference, look like yours is a 74 or later? You can add you coupe to your signature easily.
You could be right. I have a euro 72 csi and just did an AC retrofit so the switch is from a different car but I got everything from one car for the retrofit. I believe it came out of a 73 cs…

Here's a solution worth looking into:

Show us the plug to that switch please with clear wire pic.

It has four terminals so it is from a 74 without the heater fan bypass relay, the earlier ones have three pins. Does a 74 switch even work in an earlier coupe Don?

It actually looks as though there are 5 terminals, look closely.

I read this one several times, excellent write up. Not sure about others but for me in Miami, and especially with the higher than average temps…my limiting factors were the biggest condenser I could squeeze in, a Sanden 709, new W&N AC radiator, big Stal fan, shroud for improved airflow & running R12 which I can get. Yes, I could hang meat in the car and keep a Helly Hansen ski jacket in the trunk if things get weirder than that.

We use the inexpensive switch plugged into the factory plug…

Looks factory , where did you source that switch? I wasn’t able to locate a suitable one that would fit. I love all the clever ideas, shortcuts and recipes here. I’d definitely buy one of those for backup but do want an original switch in mine @bavbob
Cheers,
Dan

the original switcheS were last produced in 1992 I believe.
I bought 10 in Egypt 5 years ago and haven’t seen anymore for sale since.
sounds like you have a 72 car with a 74 AC system so will need the later switch.

Don, where were you in 2012 when I could have used that nice repair for my Bavaria!
