E9 is twice as long as I recall.
Max--Getting full window tint per my post will negate some of the hot sun coming in through our big windows. It actually looks as though there are 5 terminals, look closely.
I read this one several times, excellent write up. Not sure about others but for me in Miami, and especially with the higher than average temps…my limiting factors were the biggest condenser I could squeeze in, a Sanden 709, new W&N AC radiator, big Stal fan, shroud for improved airflow & running R12 which I can get. Yes, I could hang meat in the car and keep a Helly Hansen ski jacket in the trunk if things get weirder than that.
I believe I have an E3 switch headed to me now if you need it.I am not sure if this E3 or E9. Does look shorter than the OP image. I will measure the post and ................post it!
Clearer photos…I do have a 72csi and the person who sold me the complete E9 AC system said he removed it from a later car which I believe was a 73-74cs. I purchased the whole system very complete with all original hardware. Thanks @bavbob for posting the switch I need. I just PM’d you.the original switcheS were last produced in 1992 I believe.
I bought 10 in Egypt 5 years ago and haven’t seen anymore for sale since.
sounds like you have a 72 car with a 74 AC system so will need the later switch.
I noticed once I plugged it in…That fifth post is not a terminal, just helps align the plug to the switch, you have four terminals.
I found a way to make that E3 switch work in the E9. I can separate the units and swap internals and bits. I’ll happily take the switch and sent you a PM. Thx, DanFYI. My switch is clearly an E3: 19mm total post, 7mm= length of threaded portion.
