Found this rebuild info on Pelican Parts:
Dr. D-Jet (attached) thinks it's not rebuild-able, but sfdon seems to be able to manage it.

This is a video I found when I was looking at options. To be clear, I didn't actually try this DIY as the bulb pinch method appears to have done the biz.
I don't know if the BMW AAV comes apart in the same way as this MB one.

I’ve been rebuilding these for several years. I sell for about 100.00 less than bmw classic.
@sfdon can you rebuild the thermal expander for the hot/cold flap in the carburated air cleaner? Looks like a similar gadget.

There is really no point in using this unless you live in a very cold climate and drive in the winter. Just make sure it is stuck in open to cold air position.
