Back on BaT

doubt it'll hit $130k again.

and seller spent $8k on misc repairs too.

plus sales taxes and insurance and shipping.

I am hopping I can sale my inka around 100k but i am not lucky on selling cars, non of my cars could sale with a right price I see what my inka will do, I have complet new paint that I paid 14k and 3.5L engine with 5 speed, gear box and engine came from same 535, I buy the 535 took the engine and gear box and dumped the rest, this time car should run very smooth.

RNM at $82,500.
Interesting that there were only 22 comments on this auction, but when it sold a little over two years ago there were 150 comments
less comment is better many people are not a buyer but they are poisoning the auction and real buyers are backing up.

I wasn’t commenting on if more or less is better. But from my limited (primarily viewing e9 auctions), and subjective (I enjoy lurking and reading comments), perspective it seems auctions with more comments tend to do better. While there are probably more trash comments when there are more comments in general, more commenters seems to indicate a more engaged audience for the auction which seems to lead towards more bidders. Though this is far from a scientific analysis.

When I sold Lilli, my pristine, original 87,000mile 76 2002 there were over 130 comments. Not a single BSer in the bunch. Many from people on this site(thank you) and faq and classic friends, some of whom belong to our small Rocket Dog group. The concensus was, "bid with confidence on this car." And they did. Two avid buyers ended at $34,500 for a Chaminoix, sq light, automatic, air conditioned 2002. Make of it what you will.

Howdy - so this car is still for sale by the dealer. Any feedback on plusses or minuses with this? Looks like a good candidate for tripple webers or a S38 transplant just to finish it off. Anyone actually seen this car? Thanks all! JL

Just looking at the Drivers Side headlights position in the grill would make you want to do a real PPI before purchase?

Look at pic 51- you won’t be driving this car in the rain…

Lots of stuff to fix…

Thanks for your ever watchful eye and great feedback! Really appreciate it!

Why would you put a lead free gas sticker in this car? If you put leaded it would actually be happier...
Why would you use a CSL decal?

Why have we resurrected a thread from a BAT auction that took place a year ago?

Ok. I have some suggestions. First and foremost, consider the comments from sfdon. Don makes a living doing e9 restorations and he's very good at it. If he says this car needs a lot of work, this most likely indicates that a lot of the restoration work previously done needs to be redone.

Second, consider the specific comments in the auction regarding the belt line molding, black stripe, rear-driver-side bumper, wing splitters and panel gaps. Add to that sfdon's comments about the headlights and pic 51/driving in the rain.

Third, the BAT auction was not very active, and the car was only bid to $82.5k.

Fourth, the seller paid $130,000 plus BAT fees, taxes, registration and at least $8k in work, so they are roughly $150k into this car. And they are asking $128k for it on their web site. It is highly unlikely that this car can be well bought. This car is priced as if it is well sorted, when it is not.

Put all of this together, and this is not a car that just needs a couple of things to "finish it off." Keep looking.

Oh, and in general, I am of the view that an s38 conversion is not worth it. See here: https://e9coupe.com/forum/threads/1970-polaris-2800cs-w-s38-texas.46175/post-407032
