battery drain

assuming your battery is good, I would check that the hood, glove box, interior, and trunk lights are going off. Possible alternator diode failure? The clock shouldn't be an issue if it's working properly, I've gone more than a month without it draining the battery.

Bad or sticking electric window relays maybe?
There is a relay that is suppose to keep the windows operational after the car is turned off, but before the doors are open. If it sticks, or the door switch sticks, the circuit stays energized. I tracked down my battery issue to this.

Is this a later feature? My windows only work with the key in the full on position.

Steve,

With key off open the driver side door and push the jamb switch with your finger. You should hear a relay click under the dash. This allows you to use the windows with doors open and key off. It was a security feature I think and I thought all coupes had this.

Drain

I would start with reading the resistance across fuse gaps with an ohmmeter to help narrow down a target.

Define "unusually quick battery drain". Days, weeks or month?
(Any of hood, glove box, interior, and trunk lights would drain a fresh battery within days)

Complement to Ed G's proposal with resistance measuring would be to connect ammeter to battery and remove fuse by fuse (or the opposite way) Easy way at least to detect which circuit that drains current.

Good luck!

At the time I asked my daughter to go inside the trunk and see if the light stays on after I close it. I found the light stayed on and that my daughter listens to my requests.

Now my battery is still fine, but I do not know if she listens to me any more.

you can positively do that, but you probably would better not to write it down in a post ...:-D

Sorry to hijak but this doesn't work on mine, where is said relay?

I had a similar problem, i found that relays had been replaced with the wrong type, so there was a constant drain happening. The round relays are configured differently to the square ones. Good luck.

well, can she hear you from inside the trunk? you did let her out?

thank you for all the constructive response, I don't think the earlier models had the window relays. also after I put a new Interstate M-24 battery as recommended by this forum it was completely drained after a few weeks. Car used to start after winter storage

Regarding the clock I once heard the the older clocks were a lot more power hungry than the newer ones. Don know the yeard of your car.

If the battery drains that quick the current pulled from the battery is measurable so just hook up an amp meter and pull one fuse at a time. Will give you a decent indication of where the problem is.

Ditto on trunk light. Simply disconnected switch and problem gone. Maybe fix it someday....

Yes, the switches are so flimsy that when I make a right turn
the interior light comes on. It is the driver side door switch.

Thanks for your concerns about my daughter, I did let her out
right away and I now use a camera instead.
