Maybe the highest ASKING price I have seen for a North America E3 ($36,900). Claimed to be all original, unrestored.

Looks to be a Euro spec e3. 3.0si, Likely D-jet injection.
Pretty rare in these parts.
US spec 3.0si’s didn’t get here till 75 they had L-jet and big bumpers.

I don't have facebook, so that link is dead. So this is supposedly a 1975 or 1976 3.0 Si with early bumpers on it? It looks nice on the surface in the two pictures I guess. Looks to be Atlantik Blau which is beautiful and the color of my old car.

If a 1991 Cadillac Brougham can sell for $73,500 (70,000 + 5%) yesterday, one could imagine a true pure E3 in near new condition could easily bring 1/2 that value. I have no way to judge the car in question though so would assume it's anything but near that condition.

Advertised as a 72. No such thing as early bumpers on cars that weren’t destined for North America, they all received the smaller chrome bumpers. Europe received the 3.0SI several years before NA/US did.

yeah, I was referring to it possibly being the USA 75-76 3.0 Si with a bumper conversion. So it's a Euro import which is pretty rare here. I seem to recall the early model year Si cars in Europe had D-jetronic injection as opposed to L-jet on the Si once it arrived here in 1975, but that's a decades old memory.

For that asking price it would be nice to see pictures of the perfect interior and the S38 under the hood.

It’s in Richardson TX. Seriously lacking description and photos. Wouldn’t an “original” 72 e3 have an all silver center grill? $36K?? As they say in Italy: “Bouna Fortuna”

Here's a Euro 3.0S that sold last year of BaT for $38,250

...so the price of this one may be the market.

I apologize for thinking it was high. Anytime our E3s can get this kind of money, I'm happy. :)

I think it is a bit high, given the mileage, but not outrageously so. The one on BaT had only 42k miles. I also think there are two prices “BaT pricing” and “rest of the world pricing”. @Wiessing - if you have the time and patience, might try there. It is a bit of a crap-shoot, but some cars go for quite a lot there.

But, people I know who have used it says it takes a while - weeks to get into the listing conversation with them, weeks to finalize the auction/posting and few more until it’s listed. I got impatient and went another route (not worth the wait for the car I was selling).

As I just posted on the Bavaria auction on BaT - I believe the values of E3’s are going-up fast. A few reasons. 1. People are getting priced out of the E9 market. 2. Because E3’s had such a low value for such a long time, there are few nice ones left and many are gone. People spent money on E9’s, not so much on E3’s. 3. The market is getting more educated on what an E3 is - a less sexy, slight lighter/quicker four door version of the E9. BaT is certainly helping there.
