i have done a little more research on battery group sizes that should work with the coupe along with Bosch model numbers in the S4 and S5 model ranges.

S5 group 47 - s5531b (9.7"L x 6.9"w x 7.5"h) = 600 cca
the S5 group 34R may fit - s5522b (10.2"L x 6.8"w x 8"h) = 770 cca

S4 group 90 - s4568b (9.5"L x 6.9"w x 6.9"h) = 520 cca
S4 group 96R - s4574b (9.6"L x 6.2"w x 6.9"h) = 590 cca

in looking on line for the model numbers didn't turn up any sources. Pep Boys does list Bosch Batteries, but not by the Bosch S4 or S5 product lines ... they list only as Premium Power models
the group 96r (96r-590) is $129 -
the group 47 (47-600b) is $162 -

one more thing, the USA versions of the batteries aren't as pretty as the S4 battery in deQ's coupe. they are all black with a silver label

found difference in these list and mine,

Bosch S4 008 Batería de automóvil 74A/h-680A, so S4 yes, but 008 submodel

it is 74Ah,
and 680 A

Per the attached image from a few years ago, a Group 48 battery "might" be considered as a viable alternative to the shorter (lengthwise) Group 47 battery. I suspect that this battery was selected due to limited availability - at the time. Since that battery is long gone, I am unable to provide additional information other than it lasted beyond normal expectations. According to the linked chart, the primary difference between the two batteries is length. Group 48 is 306 mm (12 1/16") in length, Group 47 is 246MM (9 11/16"). (Height difference is 2mm) To be sure, it is a snug fit. While the larger battery presumably offers more cranking power and/or reserve, it is also heavier.

For the record the current available BMW battery that fits correctly is the 61212353815. The length is 242mm - no cutting needed. The 61 21 2353 817 battery is 278 mm long which is too long.

Not trying to reinvent the wheel, err battery tray. I cannot personally confirm the battery measurements but merely took them from the linked chart. I recall the same vehicle was previously equipped with a white/translucent case battery that used the entire battery tray footprint. As my preference is to shed as much weight as reasonably possible, I am fairly certain that currently, there is a "shorter" Group 47 battery resting in the same battery tray. The found photo merely reminded me that in a "pinch" there may be alternatives. FWIW, the pictured Group 48 battery fit the subject vehicle's tray - without any alterations to the battery or the tray. Again, as the saying goes, "Your mileage may vary."

I needed a battery this week. I went with the acid/flooded Duracell from batteries plus here in Oregon. They offer an AGM version as well.

I found a 10% off coupon on line so it was $180.00
Perfect fit. Looks more at home than the old green and white Interstate it replaced. They’re manufactured by East Penn a 60 year battery maker.
After I peeled the Duracell sticker it kind of looked like a Bosch. ;)
