We will have only 3 options. 1: full interior 2:trunk 3: full interior and trunk. All based on multiple piece interior pre '74.

Cabrio does not sell partial sets that we are aware of. And unlikely bulk material.

Really need to keep this purchase streamlined. Perhaps buy the full interior and use what you want?

The 74 one piece carpets were heated/steamed/something to make them fit. You would never be able to get new bulk carpet to fit properly IMHO.

Few questions about this interesting one piece carpet. Heard about it, but that's it :)

1, Ever shown on pics as detail or out of car and spread over the ground?
2, Is it a loop carpet in same material as the small piece by piece carpet?
3, Available in the same colour options as above carpet?
4, It's said "74 carpet". Was it an option upgrade later than the official in sept 73?

Cheers to you folks!

+1

i fully support this,

according to the last conversations of today, we will have these three options mentioned

moreover, it will not be another run, and this colour will not be offered later, so if you are considering it, this will be your last chance

the run will be only made for us and for three german specialists in bmw restorations that will buy some sets each of them, with all these orders we will need to complete the run, no matter 30 or more cars

we have been asked to supply exact template of original pads, and the effort will be made to reproduce them exactly as original carpets

binding will be original grey colour

US 74s had them, it will not lay flat, I think colors were the same. It was standard equipment, were Euro coupes different in 74/75? Same thing on US 74 2002s as well.

What is the latest on the blue carpet production? Can I still get a carpet set?

Bit of a setback. Effort is still ongoing but delayed. Klaus produced carpet samples for review. DeQuincey receive his, mine never arrived.

The sample did not match the pre dyed thread samples received before and weren't a good color match. Klaus is having a new sample made up.

DeQuincey has been dogging them. However as a limited and small (comparatively) order we carry a low priority with the carpet makers.

Will update as we hear more.

John,

one comment that you need to consider ... you will want to try to get the carpet without the KHM logo on the drivers mat if you are trying to achieve a more original look. i just received my black carpets today and i will start working on installation this weekend. will keep you posted on how it goes in.

the great news is that the euro is really down compared to the dollar. shipping of the carpet with the trunk piece is $80 for one set. you will want to ship them as freight across the pond and save $$$. another thing to consider is that the kit includes the piece of carpet for the rear parcel shelf. as the 2800cs didn't place carpet there, i have no use for it ... or at least currently ... this may change in the not-to-distant future.

Cool update. I need a cover for my parcel shelf. Did I miss the post where the rough estimate was on the kit cost? For the time being, I'm going to cannibalize my trunk carpet to make new front floor pieces.

you would have to look at the very early parts of the thread. the good news is that the euro is not worth as much now compared to the US$ ... so that is helpful - my carpet for the car + trunk ... shipped to the US was 617 euro. (80 euro was shipping). right now that is about 650 bucks. the group buy price is probably a bit less for the carpet ... and the freight should be less.

I'm trying to get ahold of a couple of meters/yards of proper marineblau/navy carpet to do the parcel shelf in my E12 M535i. Is there a possibility (remote or otherwise) of making that happen? I'm not trying to be cheap. Willing to pay.

We have asked Klaus the queston before. They will not sell just the carpet material. You will need to get the whole set or can perhaps do trunk alone. Maybe the trunk area / size would be enough.

has there been any further response regarding the production of the carpet sets? I see other people are asking some good questions here as well...

Just a reminder about VAT for US purchasers. This may have been mentioned before, but I did not read all the posts.

A few weeks ago, I ordered a full set, including the trunk floor carpet for a '74 3.0 CS. The first invoice included the VAT. When I inquired 'why', and that I thought it was not to be collected for products shipped out of the EU, they sent another invoice, and the savings MORE than made up for the cost of shipping to zip 19382 in the US.

So, be sure you save the ~20% of the actual purchase cost that is added to the invoice for EU citizens.
