anybody have an extra clip (1 of the 4 required)? i have 3 of them but one has gone missing somewhere along the process. might be floating around the car somewhere, but so far no luck finding it.

You can make a better clip than the original with coat hanger wire. Bend it into a flattened Y shape with the bottom of the Y forming a squashed loop. Leave enough loop enabling a grab with pliers to twist the clip into the dash slot to firmly hold it in place. File the tops into sharpened wedges. You can create the shape you want in order to pull the dash down flush with the metal frame to your satisfaction.

I had all of the original clips but found them to be unreliable in holding the dash to the frame, ( kept popping out ), as well as not seating close enough to prevent movement between the dash and frame - ( when in place the dash had a bit of play up and down ).

DIY is sometimes better. More work, but better. If I call it re-engineering it sounds like I'm a professional.

i removed the inset clip that it sits in and put a tapered piece of oak thru it
to hold it down simple and elegant
