My impression initally of water based paints upon their introduction was that they were not as robust as solvent based formulas.In some states you have trouble using solvent based paints, others no issue. Georgia allows anything but my Ceylon paint is water based

My impression initally of water based paints upon their introduction was that they were not as robust as solvent based formulas.
Has that situation improved enough that we can feel confident using the water based formulas on our cars?
I'm wondering if that would make it less problematic to spray my own car in a residential neighborhood and still have acceptable quality.
