In some states you have trouble using solvent based paints, others no issue. Georgia allows anything but my Ceylon paint is water based
My impression initally of water based paints upon their introduction was that they were not as robust as solvent based formulas.
Has that situation improved enough that we can feel confident using the water based formulas on our cars?
I'm wondering if that would make it less problematic to spray my own car in a residential neighborhood and still have acceptable quality.

well, the color was the important thing. i should note that the clear coat is solvent based. there are 8 coats of color and 3 coats of clear.

No expert,
But I have heard that they are widely used and results are good, some say better than solvent
Probably it is not the same technique to spray one or the other and you can not expect to behave the same way
Mine was done water based, paint looks quite nice, and it is a complex colour
I will have an expert witness this in a couple of months and he may report back, I am no expert,

this bad?
