From what I found out it's been off the road for at least 20 years...

Wow, so different fates. I guess living in a barn is a good thing for a car.

I'm certain that is a ton of work, even at 21%. It is fun to see passion for a hobby turn into support for the other enthusiast, nice work!

Are you collecting info on all cars now or still specialized sections?

all of the cars listed in the summary (the VIN sections are noted)

I found the VIN of a coupe I've owned twice, it's 2240870. I bought it about 2005 for $1000.00 and sold to a friend and bought it back from him in 2022/2023. I then sold it again months later. This was in the SF Bay Area and I think it's still in the area. Ed

Sevreal years ago I developed this mathematical model based on typical lifespan of cars (retired due to crashes, mechanical, etc). I belive it is based on actual production numbers, which seem to be higher than RSPorsche's 13367 vehicles (not sure which is correct. IIRC my number is all E9s). Today's number of viable cars is presumably lower, although I am also pretty sure the attrition rate slows down considerably as the cars get rarer, and more valuable, since cars that would otherwise be scrapped get restored.

search 'coupe ancestry project' and you will find individual posts for the US 2800cs, the US 3.0cs, the 3.0CSL, and the 3.0CSi. its too much information to get into a single pdf as there are 8 different tabs in the spreadsheet. i guess i could place all of the pdfs in one post ... just thought it would get more response if it was easier to find the individual model.

That was a great mathematical model Scott. Now, which side of the survival column is your black E9 project on :)?

Also, where is the PDF chart for this? I can't seem to locate one for all vehicles, just CSi
its in the first post of this thread. fyi, yes the numbers for total e9 is lower than actual as i have not tallied the 220 thru 223 cars and 430, 4315 + 432 cars (which is an additional total of 17,198 cars) ... according to the records there are 30,546 total e9 ... and my summary of 13,567 is correct (for my portion of the project)

Thanks. I can add another car for you.

2240344 is in Petaluma, CA
1972 currently black, originally Fjord
Will be restored over the next 3-4 years, and returned to Fjord
Bought in Arroyo Grande in 2006. Stored inside since then.

It's nearing the approach Arde!!

I have a bunch of silly projects to do before I start in earnest. Need to get rid of may daughter's vintage travel trailer to make room. Have to swap the Bronco engine for a crate motor and ship it to Nathan in Chicago (funny to have a guy that works at Tesla driving a gas powerd vintage Bronco), then need a quick redo of my 6er suspension. Meanwhile I have been collecting parts for the E9.

Currently have:
New Alpina replica wheels and new tires, full suspension kit and stainless exhaust from Carl Nelson, Stahl headers, new firewall pads, door seals, tail lamps, turn signal lenses, Getrag 265, and other misc bits.

Plan to strip the body, fix the minor rear quarter panel rust, do a glass-out repaint, rebuild the wire harness, rebuild the suspension, re-veneer the wood (deleting the speaker and the ashtrays), rubuild the dash, and have the interior done. And a zillion little projects like re-zinc chromating parts, and rebuilding heater, brakes, brakelines, etc..

Still need to buy a windshield, and the glass gaskets.

Still debating how to address the engine. It ran fine when I bought it. Probably do a modest rebuild, but still toying with a Korman rebuild with a conversion to a triple weber setup (i'd say there is a 70% lean in that direction..depends on how the new admin affects the economy...and how effectivly I react to that. shorts may be involved.. )

Scott
