CS convertible custom

I’ve seen it before on youtube. The electric top
is well done. I’m not sure what’s going on in the engine bay, but it sure is cramped.

"in the words of its creator: 'one of the most beautiful convertibles BMW never built'"

BMW built this?

I do like the convertible lines. IF BMW or Baur had built convertible E9s, I bet the prices would be hot... The engine here looks to be from a 745i turbo. According to Don, no easy job to get into a coupe. If this build was done well it has a lot going for it...

Outside - great work (beside headlights).
Inside - crap, ruined car.
BBS steering wheel is good for E23, E24, E28, E30, E32, E34 but not for old school classic BMW like E9.

Nice car I think. The cabrio conversion looks really clean, well engineered. It actually looks like you can park this one in the rain and not flood the interior like with so many (DIY) convertible conversions.

The interior may have looked good in the 90's when it was state of the art. Now it's just to dated for me, it doesn't fit the car anymore.
I would think changing some interior bits back to a more OEM spec is not too difficult. Original spec new carpet, trunk panels, a pair of E9 front seats reupholstered together with the rears, and another steering wheel would make it look more stock. (more beautiful in my eye also) Roughly 6-7K in parts?
A bit more difficult would be to source correct doorpanels; I am no fan of the chopped up, speaker packed current ones.

Nevertheless, if you must have a convertible and an 2002 is too small, this may be the one for you!

I agree 100%. In many ways, the builder appears to have done the hard parts well but added too much "1990's-era bling". Not just the interior, but the wheels, headlights, de-trimmed trunk lid, ... just cheapen the car. But replacing that bling with original components shouldn't be hard or expensive.

Imagine how much fun it would be to make the changes eriknetherlands suggests, bring the cabriolet to a historic BMW show, and pull peoples' legs by suggesting that it is a rare factory design study.

As cool as this is, the CS is one of those rare gems where the hardtop looks better than the chop top version. The thin C-pillar is a thing of beauty.
