If anybody would be interested, I am planning to pull a mould off my original and very heavvvy front bumpers
and replicate in fibreglass, a few lbs, instead of the 50 lbs. or so. No over riders or rubber trim.

Please send a pm, or post your thoughts.

Regards, Alberto

These guys in the UK have made a lot of CSL parts.

I have been to El Salvador about six times to surf at Sunzal, west of La Libertad. Great waves, beautiful hotel, and very kind people. I did not see too many classic cars, however.

I know there was a group of Alfa enthusiasts and some club racing at a small track at one point in time. There are some old posts from them on the Alfa BB.

I love all the in-period race pictures. The number of versions they sell is impressive...

Markos, That is the idea, as I have a CSL (homemade front spoiler) I would like the bumper look
as too racy without, but the front one is so heavy and as I am not parking the car,
I would like to lose some weight. Then black gel coat in a nice semi matte. Bumper mounts in aluminium.

Where did you find your rear one? Anyhow, if I can make the front, I can make the rear...

HI @aguirola,

I got the rear bumper from www.zaprace.com.

Going through my shipping notes - I would estimate about 30lbs for a front bumper with rubber. I don't recall it being that heavy, but the brackets, overriders and rubber certainly add to the weight.

Nuts with washers, Ally plates, Bumpers.
Will install plates to car, then glue to bumpers, Glass the whole structure together, then join two halves, and attach center strap.
Cut out the holes for the license plate lights.
Paint semi flat black.
Hope you like. They will be strictly decorative, maybe weigh 3 Lbs.

Thank you for the comments!
Here is a raw result. 1 lb vs 10 lb, that's including the center section.

Just love the manufacture.

Tomorrow will mount the alloy brackets to the car, then attach the bumper
to them, rivet the whole thing, take off, fibreglass the bases real nice on, then can the rivets.
This way, the fit is guaranteed, no issues.
Paint.

Then, on to the front at almost 30 lbs.

I always liked what this guy did to his CSL (not sure if it's real).

Gives it a clean look while adding a front bumper.

I am not crazy about the car's wheels, but overall a nice project.
What I really like, is the front bumper, not quite as the original, yet looks right, more streamlined.
Thanks for showing it, I am now more convinced about it. not to mention the huge weight loss.
Prefer it in black though.
Personally, would have added the roof hoop, as with the rear spoiler, it really would be a minimal
add on, and would complement the o.a. look.

@aguirola,

Moving to projects until you have a product
to sell. Your thread is very intriguing and
we appreciate the process walk-through!
