Dead Pedal DIY

i have not tried to mount it in my coupe. i bought it from Paul Cain ... if Paul says it was for an e9, its for an e9. the dead panels for the e30 m3 is different, my memory tells me that it mounts to the side panel and the floor ... not the firewall.
Yes, the factory e30 dead pedal is different. It mounts to the the side wall as well as the firewall/floor board. The Alpina e30 version mounts to the firewall and floor board.

here is the flat sheet with fold lines. this would be very close to the original. the thickness of the sheet is approx. 2.25 mm ... all of the folds are 90 degrees. you really need a brake press to fold this sheet.

This will do just fine. As a DIY kinda guy, I just make do with what I have. This will be a small fun project, but one I'll still spend hours doing. Thanks!

if you want to do holes or grommet holes ... it needs to be done before it is folded. if you want to shorten it up so the face of a pad stays at the same place as the Alpina pedal, let me know the thickness of the pad and i can shorten all of the sides that given dimension.

Placement, angle and plain of dead pedal should match clutch and brake pedals IMO.

Also may want to evaluate width of 'foot/shoe'. If too narrow, may feel awkward underfoot.

94 mm wide is just short of 4" and approx. 13" long ... that's a pretty good width + size. the e30 motorsport pedal is a bit narrower.

Assume a pedal made of 16 gauge steel so 1.5mm

Hadn’t seen that you had set it up for 2.25 mm, that should work, I’ll see what I can do about trying to cut one out of metal I have at home to mock up. Have another part I need to be bending as well so I know my tasks for the next week!

I have the DFX file for send cut send. However, I have not yet added the bends in. Send me a message with your email and I will send the dxf. Unless enough people we could do a group buy and save on volume pricing.

For these types of bends, I assume that they will bend the corners down but they clearly won’t be welded together. Do they also offer powder coating or other coating services? I suppose if not welded then bare metal would be better to do the welding. Were you thinking of having them do it in aluminum or mild steel? And this file is just a flat surface, correct? Without any set pattern on the flat portion?

If youre putting in an order I’ll take one, I may also just try to bend one at home to see how that works. I have a welder so can weld them and powder coat

Well if you’re not going to use one I’m happy to coordinate the group buy. But perhaps I’ll just order one first to make sure it works. If you have the DFX file already made I’d love to get it from you, will send you DM
