There's no reason your green wire can't loop through the glovebox before heading outside to the coil. I'm more concerned about where the power comes from before the fuses. On the original car, there are only two 10awg or so power wires coming inside from the starter to power the entire car through two 1/4" spade terminals. I wouldn't add ANY additional load to that. Run new wires all the way from the starter or battery. Then it's easy to put your fuses outside, provided you use a waterproof box.

E34 wiring diagram extract. Fusible link from battery to Motronic. 50Amps, unless my eyesight is going the way of my common sense.

My schematic shows "E" as the source of battery power to the rear defogger.
Fuse 46
Also fuses 30,31,32, 41, 42, 43, 44, 47

Can you post a pic of what your schematic has for "E" please?

It does all make sense-
15 amps fuel pumps
15 amps tranny control
15 amps motronic

I use
15 fuse to fuel pump
30 amp fuse to bus for pump and motronic from starter

I add a 15 amp fuse from ignition green to coil

No auto tranny circuit in manual cars.

sfdon, The letters are recycled over and over, and only valid within the same diagram. I'm sure you're looking at a different "E".

Rek, I finally had time to review what you're saying, and you are correct... For a 1989 model. But if you'll look at a 1992 model 535i, he 50 amp fusible link has been eliminated. The entire motronic system is completely unfused! No, I can't really explain why, but usually if something is removed from the system, it's because it was causing problems. Also note the 80 amp fusible link that is upstream of all the fuses in the rear power distribution box, that's the one I was familiar with. Actually has nothing to do with the motronic system.

Good catch Layne!

Nice end of story-
My client calls last week- intermittent no run.
It was the 30 amp fuse from starter terminal to Motronic/fuel pump connection
Every part that can go wrong will go wrong

*bump*

I plan on using an L-Jet banana intake on my B35. Should I use the FI wiring harness from the L-Jet or use the B35 FI harness and change the injector connectors?

Don is the expert but I used a b35 harness, removed unneeded wires, which leaves 7 or so to connect to chassis harness.

Umm.. Original e9 engines are m30s. And so are b34, b35s.

You mean you transferred the old acc to the newer engine?

Make sure the B35 oil pan clears your cross member. On my recent E12 swap I ended up with the original 1977 oil pan, oil pump, power steering pump and alternator. I still managed to add my piece de resistance which is the E28 hydrodynamic power steering and brakes. No more vacuum booster! No more macaroni manifold intake either.
