Very correct that E9s are very comfortable for longer/bigger drivers.

As said, 6'2 with sunroof no problem at all :-)

Wayne Carini

In another thread, Duane Sword wanted Wayne Carini to do a "Chasing Classic Cars" show with an E9...Not sure that he could reach the pedals. And yes, I resemble that remark...

Dave V. in NC at 5''7"..or close.

Who needs Carini??

Who needs Carini?

Our current issue of Roundel--starting on page 34 of the December 2012 is a well written and presented article about one of the most mature E-9's that's still going strong and which has carved out a special provenance in its years since it was built on September 5th, 1969. BLUMAX is the 16th one built for the North American market at the insistence of Max Hoffman, the then exclusive Importer Distributor for BMW and many other European makes.

In spite of its documented 422,250 miles of travel since it's build date of September 5th, 1969 it still "goes like stink", as an old German expression might describe its present day performance. How so--well--just this last week it was fitted with a fresh 1989 M30 3.5L with a Hans Hermann camshaft and fed by a pair of 38/38 downdraft carbs. It now delivers the true meaning of the expression "torque is what makes the wheels turn".

Just ask Chris Macha his impression of driving the BLUMAX as recently as yesterday!

I second Murray, no idea who this Carini is, the only Carini I knew was a great goal keeper for the Uruguayan National team. As for cable TV, why one in sunny California would waste time in cable TV wasteland when the weather is beautiful outside...

Yes, I added a 5th gear to my spleen, does it show?

I'm 6'4". the main problem I had was trying to drive it with the huge bus steering wheel. My hands would hit my knees while turning. It has been much better since I put a smaller wheel on. Just need to get a nice wooden wheel for Christmas! My wife has been asking me what I want and now I just realized.

I don't have a 3.0CS but a 2000CS and I'm 6' 1" though I haven't actually driven mine yet.

I have to recline the seats in my E28 or I hit my head on the sunroof frame going over bumps.
